94Z Convertible, my first car, 2800 Yank stall, underdrive pullies, cutout, Moroso CAI, few other odds and ins
2002 Trans Am Firehawk, just a SLP LM1 catback, all stock 22K original miles in pristine condition
Last but not least, the heavily modified of the bunch my 95 TA. Its tore down at the moment and depending how much the cylinder walls need to be bored to clean them up, it'll probably end up being around a 398-401 cu in, hyd roller, 12.75:1 static compression, 7500 rpm shift point LS1 PCM conversion, 250/260 .70x/.68x 105.5 LSA (on a 1.6 rocker and yes you read right) fully ported LT4 heads that flow 296 cfm @ .600" lift on a tight flowbench, highly modified welded LT4 intake, viper main shaft T56 and a Dana 60 w/ 4.30 gears, 1/2" ARP studs, locker 35 splined axles and every other imaginable bolt on.

I love my LTx's
But every once in a while, you hate them when you gotta change those last two spark plugs hehe . You have nice cars man. All my friends have F bodies, so when we were stock and doing small bolt ons, i was always slightly behind them, unless they missed a shift or something lol. Anyways they have Mostly 93-97 Camaros and firebirds. One of them has got good clean bolt on set-up. I think last year he whopped me when i was stock and did 13.7 (probably does better now). His twin brother has a same year (1995) Firebird and it's got a good list of mods, but was running crappy last year at the track. Still managed 13.5. The other friend worth mentioning has a 2001 Camaro and he's got a cat back, headers, underdrive pulleys and the last i heard a Corvette upper intake. He was in the 13.45-13.5 range with nothing but an underdrive and a catback, so he must be looking into the 13.0-13.2 areas now. Another one of my friends has a stock 95, and my good buddy has a sweet 88 Iroc Z. He has the 5.7 tpi, but god that thing is slow. Still, it's got all the style and classic mid 80's chevy feel that i love. What times you getting with your modded T/a ?
Here's my baby . It took me a while to afford it, a bit more to mod it. Slowly but surely. I had plans for this summer, but duty calls and I'm doing basic in 2 weeks. I wanted to get her in the 13.0-13.4 range, but i guess that'll have to wait.

Are those numbers right? My Focus hatchback has 100hp/ton and 65hp/L. I can't help but think the Mustang/Challenger are faster than my Focus. Of course I'm sure they destroy it in torque numbers.
Yup people always talk about HP, like when the new v6 camaro was coming out with 300 something hp and the 2010 mustang gt v8 only had 15 more. The v6's can't keep up with the Gt's on the track because torque makes a difference and the mustang has about 80lbs more of it. torque wins the drag race. Also you have to consider a lot of things. My car makes about 320 rwhp at full tune. However, i opted to keep my 3.27 gear but i drive it a lot more than i race it. I bought a 3.73 to install , which would probably earn me .5 + on my quarter mile. Needless to say, more aggressive gears are very important for drag races. I sometimes get beat by near stock cars like mine because all they got was a gear, air intake and a tuned chip. Anyways to get back to the topic, i drive a Mustang, my dad drives one and it's something that means a lot to us. Since i was kid i've wanted one. Not because i disliked camaro's, but like everyone else the Mustang is american car that regular people can have. Not everyone can afford a big cadillac or drive a corvette, but it's not such a stretch to have a Mustang. I got mine when i was 18 and i can honestly say that I've had some of the best time in my life with that car. That doesn't mean, that i wouldn't buy a Camaro or a Challenger. In the 2010 models, I'd be leaning on the camaro, even though the Mustang comes loaded with features that make it more enjoyable on the track and just a lot comfier (that's me personally, i don't like the low seating of the camaros). However, that's all about to change with the twin cam 5.0 for 2011 .

Still the challenger pushes 102.6 Hp per ton and the Mustang 88.1 per ton. Then hp/liters is pretty even though with srt8 at 69.6/L and the mustang at 68.6/L. It's impressive that the mustang is only 0.1 secs away from the Challenger on the quarter mile. Weight or not, it's just not justifiable to have a 41 000$ (base price btw) barely capable of out running a 28 000$ (also base). That said, i think it's common knowledge now and people looking for speed and performance will mostly likely look else. Thing is, there's just a lot of things the others can't provide compared to the Challenger. These things just can't be compared. I am young, but i could just imagine being 45 years old and buying a new car modeled after the car i drove in my heyday, but with all sorts of modern conveniences. (I can't imagine it being that popular in 24 years, but heh theres also room for positive thinking :P)
P.S. why did you quote maximum crunch in there too, was he talking about speed or power? It sounds like you're trying to make fun of his wife. Just sayin man.. max might now find it funny.
My wife has a great power to weight ratio, she only weighs 120ish and can run a quarter mile pretty quick.
Max: " i don't see why she won't just get one of those."
One reason might be because of the mass. The Dodge is far away from being the car that the Chevy or Ford is, IMO.
Also, don't discount loyalty: One of my co-workers went totally gaga over the new Camaro. She (!) got a silver V8 and it has basically changed her life. She does all kinds of activities with other Camaro owners, and even planned a recent vacation around a 10 car photo shoot (!) in Fresno (!!). This lady is vehemently anti Mustang.
Loyalty is exactly the reason. My wife is a Camaro nerd.

The Camaro SS is clearly hands down the better deal of them all if your looking for all out and out performance. Just look at the power to weight ratio, hp numbers and price tag. Camaro A6's trapping 110 in the 1/4 while RT's and GT's are only trapping 104/105. That right there should easily show you the brute power to weight right there. No contest there, LSx FTMFW!
I'm also an admin on a F-body/B-body/Y-body forum and have quite the collection of F-bodies

It's all about the mass, sons. Mustang GT is around 3600#, Camaro V8 3900, while the Challenger V8 challenges the scale at around 4200!

They look awesome, i was just dissapointed at their performance to power ratio. There is no way they should be that slow compared to a Camaro with a very slightly larger engine.

I know in the end, the camaro is just better engineered and the Challenger is aimed more towards nostalgic upper middle class folk who just want to take it from point a to point b. I'm not calling it slow, but...Let's just say I've beaten all 6 of the ones i raced at the dragstrip. My car is 10 years and displaces quite a bit less, but i digress. Also,I am in no way baggin' on you dude, apart from the crappy numbers, this car has got it all. Style, comfort and a hemi. Maybe the next gen's will focus on that. I haven't heard that many with new cat backs and or headers. Can't wait. I work at a rust-proofing company and probably the biggest in my province, so i drive close to 150 of the 250-300 cars that get their treatment done. I get a couple of SRT8'S . Love the Grand Cherokee and i dig the charger. Mostly because of the sound. I hate that we have a huge window that lets the customers see what we do. And hear too, when i went to deliver the SRT8, i gave it a good bit of gas and man those that hemi sing
