I'm dutch, I've seen the shit that happens in a few simple steps:

1: legalise Pot
2: Organised crime just lost a big chunk of income
3: Said organisation needs a new source of income
4: Share of Coke/heroine/amphetamine on the streets increases tenfold
5: Kids now aren't being rebellious using "safe' pot, they have much easier acces to much nastier stuff

So what do I suggest:

1: keep Marihuana 'illegal'
2: Turn a blind eye for real prosecution, except in extreme cases (nobody needs a 3 acre greenhouse filled with grass "for personal use")
3: Slap on the wrist when caught with it, give a fine (Taxing in disguise)
4: everyone happy

So society might as well be getting the tax revenue that goes towards imprisoning them for their NON-drug-related illegal activities.

We are cutting rapists and child molesters loose in droves because of mandatory minimums that have a guy who sold a pound of pot serving 20 years with no early release. who is a greater menace to society, a guy whol sells pot to support his habit, or serial child molesters who repeat offnd at a 95% rate?

Check the child molesters' register, for your state and nationwide. Recoil in horror at how many are within a mile of your home. And those are the ones who are avbiding by their parole and reporting their whereabouts to parole officers. What about the ones who are off the radar? They don't get caught until it's either in the act or after they move up to rape AND murder, trying to hide their crime.

Do you really want these animals outside rather than a pot dealer, or even a coke dealer? They let the pervs out because they aren't saddled with mandatory minimums like the drug convicts - and no one wants to vote away the mandatory minimums lest they seem soft on crime.

It's stupid and irresponsible towards our children and women who have been victimized by rapists.

that is correct lerx. there are staggering amounts of non violent crime offenders serving some outrageous sentences, even for mere possession. prison is now a business more than ever, they can't stop building them, the companies that construct them are addicts as well, just more to dollars than drugs.

28 year ago today, Randy Rhoads was murdered by a coked-up bus driver who fancied himself a pilot.

It wasn't an accident, it was manslaughter, plain and simple. It should always be remembered as murder, and never called "an accident". It would be an accident if the plane had been flying above the treeline, with a competent pilot at the controls, and a flock of birds flew into the propeller/engine, causing critical failure and a tragic crash.
