Sidewalk. The runners will be in the street.

Really, Shawn? Cool! Watch for us, it's around mile 15. What time do you think you'll be going by? We can get a big cheer going for you!

          What number are you?

whats the deal with your bass player? he's got the 80's preppie sweater tied around the neck thing. Hasnt anyone told him that is like SO Duran Duran? does he have little aligators on his polo shirts too?

Loads of fun, got up at 6 AM, my singer was to pick me up, he was late, and drove like a typical LA driver - 80 MPH on the freeways, wow we made good time! The morning was overcast as we set up our gear. Started playing around 8:15 AM, with many breaks, and we played til about 12:15 PM. The sun came out around 9 or so, you can see I didn't have my own little canopy thingie so I got sunburned a bit by the end of the set.
The Marathon this year was sold out, so with 25,000 runners the turnout & crowd was better than in years before. I'll post a set list later; I know I had done a last minute crash course on oldies from Traffic, Bad Company, and Tom Petty. The drummer Al is new, I hadn't played with him before but all turned out well. I remember we did a super slow version of Turn The Page.
The people from Bristol Farms were very cool, they gave us the electricity and use of restrooms, and also treated us to breakfast burritos...and for dessert (since this is Beverly Hills) a huge cup of fruit & granola & yoghurt!
One thing that was slightly annoying: The regular line of people who would walk through the parking lot and right through our backline!
Look at the pic above, you can see my cousin's van blocking the driveway, the singer's van was parked nose to nose, we also had that caution tape....didn't stop these folks from tromping through while we were playing, knocking over gear!

There were lots of interesting runners, too. A group of Elvises, a gal dressed up like Marilyn Monroe, somebody in a "PedEx" box costume, a dude running barefoot (!), a guy bouncing a basketball, etc.
Around 11:45 a dude came out of his house across the street and asked if we were allowed to be there, as "he couldn't get any work done". His wife stayed across the street and screeched that she couldn't watch TV I got on the mic and assured him that yes, we were allowed, permitted, the Marathon's only once a year, etc etc. But then I felt bad for him (We had been blasting his neighborhood with loud rock n roll for almost 4 hours) so I sat out a few songs.
Then one of his neighbors (a sweet old granny type) came over, I thought she was going to complain also, but she had a request: "76 Trombones"

Is that anything like a 'rusty trombone'?

Not only that, it looks like he 'tight rolled' his pants and has on high tops from 1982

You'll be astonished to find that's the very first thing I thought of too.

I feel sorry for your keyboard player and drummer, they must have to do some serious training to hump their gear round that marathon, I'd be knackered.
                              Wait a second......
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                              I nearly broke her back
