Never thought I'd quit my band...but I did.

After 5 years, I gave it up yesterday. Never thought I would I started it from scratch (clueless as to what I was getting myself into LOL), I had a lot of awesome times, and learned a LOT.

It quit being fun, it was a 2nd full time job, and of course there were issues with folks, situations, etc.

I got tired and gave it up.

I'm actually more relieved than sad. I'm taking a break for quite a while I think.

Jeri, I'm sorry to hear that the fun went out of it. But if it did, you've done the right thing. Take a break and recharge your batteries, then decide your next move musically.

I'm sorry Jeri but you know if it isnt fun anymore then no point in doing it. I've been there, done that myself. It is hard finding bandmates that you see eye to eye both musically, personally and spiritually or whateverlly lol. If everyone isn't on the same page then chances are friction sooner or later will get the best of ya.

Hold you head up gurl, you did well and can do it again if you so choose to.

Sorry to hear this Sis .. That's what caused me to stop. I'd always said when it ceased being fun I was done and it happened. The good news is that you will get the passion back, sometimes you just need a break

That's too bad Jeri, but you do what you have to do. Bands are a lot of fun, but a lot more work too. I'm just putting my band back together after a couple of years hiatus. I can already tell it's going to be a lot of work.

I'm sure you'll be back in the saddle after a short "vacation".

Same thing happened with my band, although it only took 1 year, not 5. It just wasn't fun anymore; I wasn't looking forward to practice.

You can take this time to hone your skills and be ready to explode onto the scene with your next band.

I know the feeling. I quit my last full-time band ten years ago, and since then I just enjoy playing the guitar. I now have a "just for fun" band again, but we play and rehearse VERY sporadically.

More power to you Jeri. Enjoy the time off.

I know how that feels... Relieved but kinda don't know what to do with yourself (and the guitars, and amps, and all that other stuff...)

Take this time to relearn why you love playing guitar. Learn a new style. Become a better player. Write songs, lyrics. Jam with some other people. Go to open mic nights. Sit in with other bands. This is a fun time Jeri. Make the most of it.
When you get the urge to join or form another band you can approach it from a new angle. Congratz on having the guts to do it. It does take guts. I know.
Its scary but you have all my respect and admiration as a player. You have always been the real deal. Only good things musically will come to you.
