Just need to vent a bit... So my band has been disintegrating slowly over the past month or so, thats pretty much done. Im not gonna get into the typical band details cause ya'll know how it is, but it just sucks. I used to have alot of fun with it, but when people dont pull their own weight and live performances suffer, I cant handle that... I take the music I write seriously, and I think every band member should be able to play it damn near flawlessly before they go off and start another band with the singer.
So then on the way from what was probably our last show two Saturdays ago, me and the girl stop at the diner as we do after every show. On the way out, the transmission in my Tahoe lets go... I managed to nurse it home, full of gear from said show, and that was that. Ugh I love the thing, but Im really not in the mood to swap out a transmission right now, Im trying to get some things finished around the house and with work being busy, I just dont have the energy. No big problem, atleast I still have my pickup truck to drive and the girl still has the Monte Carlo to tote the kids around in until I find a transmission and put it in.
Until today. She mentioned that it was slipping in first gear, only did it twice. Well this past Saturday, we went to Philly to see my buddys in Flesh Engine debut their new drummer... on the way there, it started stuttering in first gear... fuck. Today after work I decided to take a $30 gamble and change the trans oil and filter. Either it would fix the problem due to a clogged filter, or would accellerate the problem with the new, clean fluid. I lost that gamble, now its almost undriveable its slipping so bad in first... not safe enough to tote the kids around in. And Im not about to put a $1000 transmission in a 115k mile car thats barely worth $1000 in good condition.
So now were stuck... My truck is only a regular cab so no carting kiddies around in it, and I need it to get to work anyway. We dont have much in savings ever since she got laid off, its been dwindling. She was one week short of qualifying for the federal unemployment extension, so now were down to one income... Me. So now we dont have much in savings, she still cant find work, and were out two of our primary vehicles. Yay. Ive also got two Trans Am's Ive had since I was 19, but theyre really not in driveable condition nor are they worth anything to sell in their condition. Money has been kinda tight so I havent put anything into them in a while.
So yeah, not real sure how Im gonna pull this one off. Just needed to vent. I guess its time to inventory the guitars and take one for the team eh?
