  • Thinking about selling every piece of gear I have .....

except for one guitar, one pre amp, and powered monitor speaker.

That would mean I'd get rid of
    1 Charvel 5fx in firecrackle
1 Squier Strat in shoreline gold
1 Agile AL 2500 black w/ gold hardware
1 Agile AL 3000 CSB Flame Top
1 Peavey Mark V Solid State Power amp
1 Peavey Classic Series 60 6l6 tube Power Amp
    1 Zoom 12AX7 preamp w/ effects
1 BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer (rackmount)
    1 Crate V18 2x12
    1 Biyang Metal End pedal
1 Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi (American)
    1 BBE Green Screamer
    1 BBE Free Fuzz
    1 Biyang OD-7 Overdrive pedal
1 Biyang Woody Acoustic simulator pedal
    1 Artec Blues Overdrive pedal
    1 Artec Graphic EQ pedal
1 BBE Mind Bender Chorus/Vibrato pedal
1 Danelectro Hash Browns Flanger pedal
    1 Danelectro Pepperoni Phaser pedal
    1 Biyang AD-8 Delay pedal
    1 Belcat Delay pedal
1 Mars Mini Yesman envelope filter pedal
1 Electro Harmonix LPB-1 Clean Boost pedal
    1 Morley Wah/Volume pedal
    1 Morley ABY pedal

This would simplify so many things for me in so far as guitar is concerned. I really have no need for all this gear and all of the accessories that accompany it all (cables, power supplies ...etc.). Not only do I not have a need for it all, I really don't have the space for it all either. I have got all of this gear in a somewhat organized but impossible to fully unclutter space of about 3.5 feet wide by 12 feet long...not much room at all.

Looking at that list I just typed out makes me realize how out of hand my aquiring these things has become...I just don't need nor do I use it all. The items I do use (one guitar and my V-amp) are all the tones that I really need. It is ridiculous that I have all this stuff.

I have a spreadsheet to keep track of when I last changed strings.

If you really feel like you have no need for it, and that you won't just replace it with more stuff (after losing money on all that) then go for it - there is no joy in a hobby that frustrates you because you've made it too complicated.

Right on. That is what it has come down to. I spend more time tidying up my area (cables, pedals, guitars get strewn about lol) when I am done playing than I do actually just playing. I am just plain sick of looking at it all.

I have no doubt that I will take a hit moneywise on some of the stuff, but there are more than a few pieces that I got for so cheap that I will definitely make money if not at least break even.

Wow that's quite the accumulation. I had the same mindset as you a couple months ago and ended up not selling anything. Give it a couple weeks before you post any for sale ads.

I think you can definitely cut down on pedals and stuff but I wouldn't sell the guitars. I've never sold a guitar that I didn't regret selling afterwards. Don't let the 5fx go! (or if you must, make sure it goes to a good home!)
