I bought a 1979 SG Standard for $650, lept it for 6 months, and sold it on ebay for $1350. This was over 5 years ago.

Before that, the last guitar I sold was in the early 1990s.

Sorry to be a buzz kill.

Oh, and I do still buy guitars, 4 in the last 3 weeks.

I'm going to have to follow fett and get a trailer for storing all of my shit.

List the stuff you still have too, why not. Some of the stuff in my list I still have. I hope to one day have a room like the guy with all the Charvels.

Finding my tone has been a loooong road and aside from 1 guitar now that Ive had for 4 consecutive years, I fear its not over. I see where youre comin from don, but if dont like it then it hits the local music store as a trade toward something else.

I would, but I don't want to flood this whole thing

Honestly, I buy and sell so many pieces of gear it's humiliating.

                  I owned a PRS Custom 24 for 8 hours.

(It didn't come close to my other one, which i still have - beauty!)
                  I like EL34s.

oh, fun!!! sad too, looking back on what has passed through my hands over the years. the saddest losses are the vintage guitars my dad bought me in the late 80's - when shred and hair metal was at its peak. i was young - mid teens....i was 12, 13 when i got a lot of the vintage guitars. they were cheaper than the shred guitars i wanted. i thought they were junky, old pieces of shit!!!

                    the "lost" vintage guitars include:

                    gibson ES335 from the 60's
gibson LP custom 3 pick-up from the 60's
                    gibson V from the 60's

                    the "lost" vintage amps include:

                    fender bassman, white/oxblood
                    fender showman, black face

i dumped the amps because they were clean. i couldn't get them to sound "metal" enough. i am a dumb ass. both those fenders cost me 175 for the pair. both were in nice shape.

other lost guitars through the years:

                    USA hamer special P-90
                    USA jackson PC-1, euphoria
USA jackson SL2H, blk ghost flames
                    USA jackson strat, burgundy mist
                    USA jackson SL-1, trans green
USA charvel SD reissue, wht w/ v-trem
                    charvel model 1, wht
                    ESP mirage deluxe, wht
                    ESP mirage custom, trans blue
                    ESP M-II deluxe, red
ESP M-II custom, candy apple red
                    ESP horizon 1, wht
                    ESP horizon II, red
                    USA peavey wolfgang, blk
                    USA fender strat plus, wht
USA fender american std strat, blk
                    USA fender tele, wht
                    kramer american pro-axe, blk
                    kramer american sustainer, blk
kramer american baretta, candy apple red
                    kramer american baretta, wht
                    kramer ST-100, hot pink
kramer focus 1000, candy apple red
                    ibanez RG550, wht
                    ibanez RG770, purple
                    ibanez RG560, wht
                    ibanez 540P, blk

pheww...i think that covers the guitars. damn....

now for amps that have passed through my hands. not quite as many, because once i got my first rivera i was happy with my sound. these amps were all to satisfy "cravings" but never held a candle to the rivera. i will put next to the amp what i did not like about it....

soldano SLO100, snakeskin - i thought it was a one trick pony. also i thought the distortion was too buzzy.

soldano astro-verb - i actually liked this amp, but needed money for vacation so it went

yamaha T50 - i thought it sounded too weak. later i realized that it's really 6L6 tubes i hate, not the soldano design. same goes for the SLO.

marshall JCM800 2204 vert input - i liked this amp but it was just TOO LOUD to be usable. on 2 i was going deaf.

marshall 3203 - cool little amp, but nothing remarkable.

mesa/boogie MKIV - i always dreamed of this amp. i always thought it would be the be-all-end all of everything. i discovered that it was all a dream. i HATED the clean sound, the "2nd" channel was useless and the gain channel made me sound like santana and that was it. i spent MONTHS tweaking this thing. i even combined EL34s and 6L6s - which i liked better. but in the end i just didn't bond with it. i was crushed....

rivera R55 - all my other rivera's have EVM12L speakers. this little sucker had a celestion 75. to me it sounded like canned ass in comparison to my bigger amps. i tried to cram an EVM in there, but the cab was too small. i liked the over idea, but the speaker ruined it for me.

fender bassman 100 - i liked this and held on to it for YEARS, but once i got my blonde tremolux, there was no sense in keeping it.

well, that covers it. quite a nice nostalgic trip.
                    GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                    and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!
