  • these sticks break like wood from the hondo custom shop.
the NHL is getting softer, so is the NFL. The umps can no longer see
straight in MLB, and the NBA has sucked ass for many years now.
What's a sports fan to do?

      • It's getting pussified, if you take a heavy hit because your blind all ya have to do is act like you're injured and the ref will make the call even on a clean hit. Saw it tonight on the Flyer/Canadiens games.

The acting and divin suck, when I played we called anyone who wouldn't battle through anything pussies

        • i was born in '65, i first skated when i was 5 or so.
i grew up watching watching montreal, philly, with a little boston and buffalo pretty much dominate through the 70's, and of course the rangers sucked ass during that time.
i'd watch the flyers come out on the ice and it turned into a scene like the battle of stirling
in the movie braveheart. it was sick. they were mean, they hit hard, the fought through the whole game, they were dirty, and yes they could play hockey too, they were loaded
with scorers. i watched the russians (the best hockey team in the world at the time) actually
leave the ice in an exhibition game against them. montreal was the finesse team, sabres were a finesse team too, the bruins were a little of both, and i digress the rangers sucked ass, but i'd get so amped up over these games, they made you mad, thrilled, lusting for revenge after schultz or dupont would beat the fukk out of one of your guys, it was great. then the islanders came along and pretty much wailed the piss out of everyone, that team was finesse and also it also fought constantly. gillies and nystrom and howatt did most of the enforcing.
the islanders were tough to watch as they won 4 cups in a row, and almost made it 5 when they lost to edmonton. being a ranger fan and watching that was excruciating but you had to admire them, they are the best team i've still ever seen in the post 1970 up until now era.
ever since the strike a few years back, this game is being destroyed. the thornton suspension
is disgusting. the new rules are detrimental. it's not even close to being as fun as it was to watch. i'm really pissed off at the current shit state of affairs.
i am not alone, Cliff and all 3 hanson brothers are currently puking
up their insides right now outside Cliff's house. the NHL is softening, no bueno..............

          • 64 for me started skating as a toddler so I'm told. I was in organized hockey by age 6, played all the way up to Juniors seriously...beer leagues for fun since. I loved the Flyers back then, Bernie Parant and the cups. I liked Boston and Espo, Derek Sandersomn, Cashman, Cheevers etc. I didnt like the Islanders at all or Montreal (they were too good). I was a Red Wing fan being from there, they sucked for so long it was pathetic but I still watched them whenever they were on TV and also Hockey Night in Canada because we could get it being so close to Windsor. You could show up at the Joe and buy good seats on the spot...I remember getting drunk and seeing telling Jimmy Develano sitting a few rows back from me so I go up to him and tell him what I thought Detroit needed to win and that was defense lol...I think he listened

yeah...N in NHL stands for nancyboy now a days but I still love the game and watch every Red Wing game and whatever good match up is on when they are not playing.

            • Looks like Fluery may finally be out of his slump...I still don't like him though

I probably just jinxed him by bringing that up

                • there were plenty of cheap shots in that game last night, most by the flames.
i saw a cross check to the back of callahan's head, and a gang up on Sauer after both of them
made clean hits on the flames. the flames can dish it out but they can't take it.
                  fukk 'em.

                          • I'm going to the Canucks/Avs tonight and they are honoring Kirk McLean.

I still remember watching this on tv... Probably Tommy does too, although he probably doesn't have as fond memories of game 6 as I do hehe.

                            • at the time i was livid, not to mention the holding up of the rangers luggage with the 1940
tags put on them at the vancouver airport after it. I used to believe that actually threw a whammy on the canucks in game 7.
