Not so simple a question because different people rate differently. Some rate a guitarist by his speed some for his technical proficiency while others his song writing capabilities. I agree on Hammett , Fast pentatonics wow any bar band hack can play that stuff. Hendrix you gotta remember was the 60's so he was doing crazy stuff for that time period. Now he wouldnt be considered wow but then yes. EVH cmon he was great for his time too . The 70's the 70's .

Joe Satriani.
Never have I heard such bland tone and soloing be praised so highly. He is a phenomenal musician no doubt, he knows his shit, he's a great teacher, he's a good song writter, but his solo's are uninspiring and very bland.
Not hating, because I do like a few of his songs, but the amount of praise he gets is ridiculous.Originally posted by horns666The only thing I choke during sex is, my chicken..especially when I wanna glaze my wife's buns.

George Lynch. Boring boring boring. Boring rhythm, boring tone, soul-less solos and from what I saw of his instructional DVD, he has the personality of a beansprout...
But it's all subjective - plenty of people seem to love his playing, so what do I know?Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get
