Hexen was pretty damned scary back in the day. I'd never played its predecessor, Heretic, but Hexen was really creepy. More recently, the Call of Cthulu PC game was . . . wow. I actually had to stop playing from time to time because I was getting a little too weirded out.

Yes Call of Cuthulu was great! I waited like 6 years or more for that game, it was supposed to come out way back in DirectX7 days. And the screen shots of the graphics back at the time were insane.
It got put off and canceled for years and years, and finally someone picked it up and finished it, and the graphics and everything were still great - is a great spooky game atmosphere and twisted, shit i think i'm gonna dig that out and play it again.

Half Life 2 still is, in my mind, the greatest game ever made.

x2 on that one! Even the original Doom scared the hell outta me when it came out, lol. But Doom3, DEFINITELY spooky!!!!
I also thought Quake II was scary. I loved how you could hear those one dudes clanging their spike arms in the next halway over. THAT was freaky!!!!
