My PC1's all have nothing more than dot inlays and they looks kinda classy and rather "less busy" too. Matter of fact my 1993 Jackson Pro also has (off set mind you) dot inlays and I love the way it looks too. Nothing cheap about any of those axes thats for sure.
You added dot inlays to your PC1's?!?!

Dots cheap? Hmm...there's a $42K Strat on the wall at the local GC here in central Jersey...I see dots on that thing, and I guarantee you, it's the most expensive guitar in the store.
Speaking of PRS...when I was looking to buy one, the only thing that was steering me away from PRS was those stupid bird inlays (I know...it's kinda iconic to the brand...just aint for me). When I saw that PRS made USA-made guitars without bird inlays (the old CE models), I was in. Call them moons, call them what you want...they look cool..they look like a guitar.
As far as I'm concerned, the only guitar that doesn't look right with dots are Gibbies...anything else, I'm fine with it. I do agree though, that the shark inlays on the Jacksons are pretty iconic as well. Of course, I've got a pretty (not cheap) Jackson, and it doesn't have any dots, sharkies, or any kind of inlays at all.

Dots are for players, sharkies are for collectors. Really, the sharkies take away from the fretboard and cause uneven playability. I wish sharkies didnt, because they look cool, but dots dont compromise the feel.............

hahaha, this thread makes me laugh.....and, have any of you noticed that the PRS "moons" are actually dots that are part pearl and then part abalone, with it appearing to be a waxing/waning moon (depending on which part you want to be the "moon" - the pearl or the abalone)? it is the most clever take on dots ever....
                GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

As of right now, for the Custom 24, yes. They changed to the outlines back in 08. You might be able to find NOS with the solid birds, and I was trying to do that, but one caught my eye and I didn't care so much at that point because it is SWEET. I will post pics when it arrives.

I like dot inlays as long as they are MOP, Abalone, Ebony, or clay... Or whatever isn't cheesy plastic like what they put on the old Model 2's and stuff.

Wow, and I bet it's all scratched just like - place name of famous guitar player of choice here -'s guitar was scratched and the PUs make the exact amount of noise PUs made back in 1950-something...
                      meh...

I believe it is expensive, but I can tell you, it's not because of the inlays.

+1, and I like black dots on maple. The spacing between dots on the 12th fret screams J/C to me

I do have to say one thing I thought was cool was the simulated "bouncing" dot that they put on Kramer Nightswans. kinda cool idea IMO.

I don't think cheap and I actually like dots myself. A Jackson pointy headstock that lack of neck binding screams cheap to me most of the times. I also like Jackson bound necks with dot inlays so go figure....
