Sure I know that inlays can't indicate the value of an instrument, just wanted to say a price tag won't either. Especially not on a stratocaster.
I was just kidding about the dots...
I personally don't have anything against dots, although I prefer sharkfins or Iommi cross inlays, which are always pleasing my eyes...
I think the connection dots -> cheap is mostly for jackson players since jackson kept the sharkfins off most of their import lines as one of the most significant differences.tremstick give-away (performer series trem)

Of course, once again, the Jacksons without any inlays are some of the sweetest ones of all If Jackson's gonna do maple...I'll take mine without anything please!Todd M

im after a jackson san dimas, the ontario made ones, most of the ones i look at have dots, 22 frets, and no binding on the headstock or neck, and thats the look i love! with ebony board looks so good, i'd prefer maple but there seems to practically none in maple!
but they dont say cheap to me whatsoever
infact in all honesty... and i hope at least somebody agree's..
SOMETIMES sharkies actually cheapen a guitar more so that dots to me
cause it seems alot of the newer cheaper crappy jacksons are trying to throw in as many expensive looking features as possible, "looking" being the key word
for example a while back i had a dk2fs, it has rosewood neck with sharkies, binding on fretboard and headstock, an a trans red finish
and it played terribly, quality was awful, its as if jackson were trying to deceive me. well it worked

Really? I like dots the best out of all inlay options... I like it simple. They are simple, classy, basic and serve their purpose without fault. Dots are the perfect inlay shape.I live on the edge of danger facing life and death every single day.....then I leave her at home and go disarm bombs.

How about Vinyl Inlays?
Has anyone tried them or use them now?
My Charvel has black dots... they are cool but for $20 this looks like a cool option http://stores.ebay.com/creative-cuts Fuck load of different options and cheap...
