for floyded guitars i just pull the springs out and i usually gives me more than enough space, but i guess thats still messing with the assembly. Usually if i keep the springs in order and put em back in as i pulled em, the guitar is still almost in tune if not completly in tune

ok so this thread made me go to radio shack today. heres my less than $3 liberator

first i got a 12 point thing. i dont know what its called. i just knew what i was lookin for.

then i cut a section of 4 off

now my demonstration is for a dual hum hardwire emg set up(like in my kelly)
nothing is really connected here, but assuming you know how to wire the rest of the electronics after the pickups you can see this will work fine. you will have to solder a jump from the braids(ground) in order to put them into position but yeah....

if this was passive and you had 3 pickups, simply use the battery hot section for the 3rd pickup and wire the rest as you would.
by now you're probably asking how would you mount this right?
well i was thinking get some real velcro(not that cheap shit) super glue one side to the bottom and then staple the other to the side of the cavity(like the multi ground tab is usually put in there). this way you can pull it up and out the cavity for easy access to the screws.
Sorry Hellbat, dont mean to jack your thread, but it was relative to it so i thought i'd share here. you can tell me to go make my own f'n thread and get outta yours if you like. its cool.

thanks. the best thing is that you can actually wire the pots, switch and output outside of the guitar and just drop it in, screw it all together and be done. As you said for $1 since it cost less than 3 for the strip of 12.

jdr94, thanks for the effort of actually documenting this. I was actually thinking of doing it similarly after the discussion in here as I had the parts lying around for some lighting in my house (and I don't know what those things are called either).

I think this is a great marketing play SD came up with. They want to sell more pickups, but people are afraid to solder, so how do you take the soldering out of the equation and make some extra money at the same time?

Not only that but they do this without having to change how they manufacture thier pickups currently so there is no retooling necessary there. The other benefit for the end user is they also do not need to have any electronics knowledge for doing the wiring because Duncan gives you a color coded chart with diagrams showing you where to connect what wire.

Cool. As another mounting option u could super glue it to the back of the vol/tone pot depending on what works better for you. Also to keep things nice and neat you could use the lead off of a bad split capable humbucker unless you know where to buy some 4 lead shielded wire. Im sure some guitar shops sell it by the foot.
Oh and twitch says "terminal strip" so im goin w thst. Probably said that on the pavkage but i didnt look. Lol
