  • Actors that should have never made it

Ive noticed a lot of who I think are horrible and/or obnoxious actors make it big lately. Seems like all you have to do anymore is make a fart joke(not that theres anything wrong with that) or star in a teen sex movie and BAM, instant success. Then you go on to star in numerous movies that are as bad as your acting. Whens it gonna end? How far and how long is too much?

Heres my top recent actors who I wish to never see get an acting job ever again, theyve gotten too many as it were already.

    1. Michael Cera
    2. Seth Rogen
    3. Jonah Hill
    4. Ben Stiller (not horribly recent, not THAT horrible of an actor, but EXTREMELY obnoxious to me)

Im no actor, Im no tenured film critic, but I was already and have been upset by the success of Michael Cera, and then I saw previews for the Green Hornet and lost it inside.

Personally obnoxious to you? Like he got up in your face and put you down? And you didn't lay the smack down on his bitch ass? That's fucked up.

I enjoy a good movie and I admit the quality of acting that takes to make that happen.
Granted Hollywood is iffy one year to the next and is very unkind.
Even so most (not all) Hollywood actors are commonly known as very shallow people.
The more idiotic, lame, obnoxious, irresponsible and insecure the actor is the greater the chances of success are.
It's the agents and managers that are the unseen silent brains behind the careers.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

The first time I saw a movie with Hilary Duff... I almost hid under my pillow because it was so embarrassing and unbearable.
But then again she's only in shit flicks and not really a movie star.

Steven Seagal is an horrible actor but at the same time it's funny as hell to watch him.

Nicholas Cage is a movie star, very famous and in a lot of flicks (all thanks to his nephew Francis) but flat out sucks. I gotta problem with that. Overexposed hacks.

Sometimes actors suppose to be what in conventional setting would seem weird or even bad.
Luchino Visconti used great actors but often wanted them to over-act, be soapy and melodramatic to make it feel like an opera. Alida Valli in "Senso" is one of the silliest, most unsympathetic and annoying creatures I've ever seen but that was the point. It differs from "Gone With the Wind" where all the characters are unlikeable but they act in a conventional way.
Robert Bresson was the opposite, he didn't want the actors to "act" at all, he wanted them to be pretty much emotionless as he hated "filmed theater".
Fellini chose a lot of quirky characters to his films, he didn't care that much about their acting skills (except when it came to lead roles) but was more interested in their weird faces and physiques (for example obnoxious women with big butts and tits to show his weird fantasies and desires). It was like commedia dell'arte theater, were masks aka the characters are important. Most of them probably couldn't act in a normal way at all.

I have nothing against her personally but Annette Bening automatically equals "annoying bitch" in my head. I absolutely loathe her because of some of the characters she has played. But then again it's good. If I'd make a film and wanted a really annoyingly acting character I'd choose her.

Sometimes bad acting is necessary along with bad dubbing like in cheesy Hong Kong kung-fu flicks, some of the most entertaining stuff ever made.

Bad or mediocre overexposed "stars" are the only problem for me. Shit like Orlando Bloom. Get the fuck outta here!

+1 on Seth Rogan. Plays the same guy all the time.

+1 on Jonah Hill. The fat, jewish, confused, perv character is way overdone.

Lets add Jim Carrey, John Malkovich, Ben Affleck, Orlando Bloom, Luke Wilson, Kevin James and a few others.

                    For the good ones:
Paul Newman ( Cool Hand Luke and as Fest Eddy Felson )
Jeff Bridges ( He's the Dude. Also Tucker: a Man and his Dream, Crazy Heart, Tron )
John Cusac ( tons of good movies with a dark twist of comedy )
Robert Reford ( Perfect actor to play across Paul Newman. Lots of good movies on his own)
George Clooney ( Plays more straight roles, but, can turn on the funny and pull off alot of good charaters )
Harvey Keitel ( this guy is the actor's actor )
Sean Connery ( Many good parts over the year. Always plays it cool lots of ability)
Brandon Lee ( sure, not many films, but he could be funny or dramatic on demand )
Robert Duvall ( this guy can be an old codger, your dad, a villain....whatever he wanted )
Michael Douglas ( Has the ability to be dead serious or all out funny )
Charlie Sheen ( Plays the goofy guy with the world falling apart around him, but, roles in Platoon and Beyond the Law were really good. He does have acting ability when he wants to. ) -Lou
" I do not pay women for sex. I pay for them to leave after the sex ". -Wise words of Charlie Sheen

I don't know about you, but in Pulp Fiction Travolta was fantastic. That has got to be one of, if not, my favourite movie(s) of all time. I would love to get the iconic Jules/Vincent gun extended pose sprayed on a guitar.
