  • USA Soloist neck profile is the best!

I think I've owned around 40 guitars at this point but didn't get a USA Soloist (SL1T with 14,XXX serial number.....I think a 2002 or 2003) until about a year ago.

I have to say that is my favorite neck ever. Love the beefy shoulders of the D shape. Not a thin neck. Not too thick either. Feels perfect in my hands. Also, the frets that Jackson uses are the perfect size IMO. I'm not sure I get the purpose of a compound 12" to 16" radius (that's too little variance to make much difference in my opinion), but I generally love a flatter radius so that is great too.

Anyway, just wanted to praise that neck shape. It's the best IMO and I've never really played anything else with a neck quite like it.

Me too. Standard Jackson neck is phenomenal. PRS, Fender, Gibson, Ibanez (TOO THIN!)... don't compare to the feel of a soloist. I should add that I like smaller frets than what Jackson uses but I'm not too picky.
    I like EL34s.

Yep, I definitely like it. I am not a fan of super thin necks and I also don't like thick necks, the Soloist feels "just right" to me.

And the neck isn't "sticky" if you just leave a light coat of "smear" on it. If you clean it like you're trying to shave in it, then it's going to feel sticky until you get it oiled up again with your hand. I only clean my neck backs by wiping them with a soft cloth and I never actually try to get them "clean."

A spray of polish onto a cloth and a quick wipe down does it for me.

I keep telling you guys....use a pool cue wax on the neck. If kt keeps a cue shaft nice and slick in a hot humid bar.....it will work on a neck. I use it.-Lou

Agreed. I have a lot of guitars but the soloist neck is by far my favorite.
