Just a couple of cool things I ran across today that I thought some here might like:

This is pretty cool. The shutter speed of the camera apparently works as a strobe effect, so it looks kinda like super slo-mo even though it's at full speed. Some of the camera geeks where I saw this were saying that the "rolling shutter" effect of the digital camera also had something to do with it, but I have no idea.

The other one is this crazy dutch sculptor who makes wind-driven robot-like machines that run along the beach:

Its sad to me that this marks the very near end of the US shuttle program. Granted its hay day was 25- 30 years ago, but those are the most prominent memories I have of it, from the 80s. An idea once followed in awe, now Im afraid, soon to be forgotten.

I doubt the current generations younger than me can even name all the orbiters.

Damn, I am of the uh, not current younger generation, and forgot 2 of em, actually, I thought there was only 5, not 6 (orginally). I can't remebmber the one from Moonraker neither!
Seriously thoug, losing 2 shuttles were both tragedies, but Columbia was so eerie cos they knew of the potential problem before reentry. BTW, growing up I made an Estes shuttle model rocket kit, and named it Atlantis. I think I used too much paint which weighed it down cos its maiden flight it only went up 50 feet in the air.
