News Feeds any use?

I was wondering about those News Feeds we have here. Lots of posts every day. I almost never open them and read them. Too much hassle as the posts are just teasers with external links and I get my guitar news from other news sites anyway. The threads are also locked for any discussion.

Do you find them valuable?

I agree. What's more, being a metal guy I don't find many of the news feed topics interesting.

It seems to work on keywords, sometimes it gets "tricked" and includes something super lame. I guess I have been alerted to something occasionally by one but mostly it's something I ignore.

Also as has been brought up before, it might be more fun if we could respond to "his" posts. Then again, it might not. But we can't, so I guess we'll never know.

It's horribly redundant. When the Guitar Hero news came out a couple weeks ago, there must have been 30 News Feed threads for that one topic.

I occasionally click on one. Maybe once a week or something. Mostly IMO it just clutters up the forum. I don't really get the point. Do the click-throughs generate income for the forum?

I like the news feeds but why can't we comment on the stories???

Without that functionality, they're only 1% as cool as they could be.

I get something mildly amusing or edifying out of them every so often, and they don't really impede my browsing of the forums. I agree that being able to discuss them would be nice though although they are often redundant so that would mean a boatload of repetitive discussions.

Me too, that's why I gave you a direct link to see. Apart from that, do you never see posts like this?:

I never see a news feed either and don't know how to access it. Maybe there's a setting I've got turned off?

They show up a lot for me when i hit the new posts button.somtimes the whole first page of new posts are news feeds posts.
