Fiero used front end parts from Chevette and put the front subsection in the rear from the Chevy Citation from the 1984 - 1987 years. 1988 was the only year that Fiero had its own suspension. Other memorable Pontiac cars are the godfather of the muscle car, the GTO and the TA.

I would love for Pontiac to come back. They were the notch up from Chevy in my opinion. Even though the TA and Camaro were essentially the same car, the TA just looked better. That is how I always seen the differences between Chevy and Pontiac...... Chevy was no frills, Pontiac added a touch of sportiness.

I looked at Buick like it was for those that wanted a Caddy, but, couldn't afford it.

Oldsmobile was neglected after their 1972 model year. They occasionally got to throw some 442, Hurst, W30 and W31 stickers on cars here and there, but, they never had a decent looking, performing car until the wedge nose Cutlasses of the mid 80's. Even the performance of those were bleak....just like everything else in the 80's.

The problem was you had 4 divisions using the same car with a few minor differences and all were complete shit due to looks, build quality, fit and finish. Chevy Nova.....lets break this down unless you never noticed this: chevy Nova, olds Omega, pontiac Ventura, buick Apollo. Nova, Omega, Ventura, Apollo...... N.O.V.A.

I think there is room for Pontiac.....having only 2 ,maybe, 3 models. The TA, a small sporty car, and maybe a 4 door hotrod.

That thing they released a few years ago with the GTO emblems was horrid. It looked like a plain jane ride. In fact, the more I looked at it, the more it looked like a Neon....just bigger. Performance was great, but, even if you have 10" pud and you are gawd awful ugly...you probably aren't going to get much attention. The prototype GTO was nice and it is the car GM should have released.-Lou

I always liked Pontic's versions better that Chevy or GM myself. I had an 84 Trans Am with T-tops...owned it for about 12 hours before it was stolen lol...was a badass car nonetheless.

So did I...it was kind of a treat.
I gave the car away and probably shouldn't have.
Only thing I did to it was change fluids and alternators on a regular basis.

I love driving my 1990 GTA. It's bone stock but kicks ass (5 speed helps).

but then people are gonna get pissy again with union bullshit and want $40 an hour plus benefits for sharpening a fuckin pencil for a living.

They can find something more productive to do.

Historically, sure they had the odd cool car, but meh.

There is simply no reason for Pontiac to make a comeback, sure it'll temporarily give people more job, but they will just wind up making a shitload of garbage because nobody was buying them before, nobody will buy them now.

Not if it's a non-union government-owned company this time. If you want the job you'll take what they're paying and a non-union job. Plenty of auto factories in the Southeast like that now. If the union-dominated states don't want it the Southeastern states will take it and that alone will make it more profitable, knocking those wages down to $18-$20 per hour. I'm sure the factory machining and tooling can be shipped anywhere.

You get it too Lou. GM DESTROYED both Oldsmobile and Pontiac While they neglected Olds for a long time but then came the Aurora which eventually shared it's platform with the Buick Riviera but, the Aurora came first. Pontiac did have a few offerrings over the years, those first SSEI Bonnies were badass and also came before it's Buick counterpart. Pontiac first fucked up with the inclusion of minivans and "crossover" vehicles....excitement was stripped from the brand, then in 2002 because of poor sales of THE CAMARO the Firebird was discontinued as well. (you can argue otherwise, but I can tell you just how difficult it was to find a Ram Air TA at the time. Took me months as they were out the door the day they'd come off the truck. I ended up buying mine right off the floor from the Philadelphia Auto Show.) GM tried to appease Pontiac fans with the Holden Monaro, but I'll tell you, my 2001 Ram Air Trans Am ate these up and spit them out on a regular basis...it was an epic failure in Pontiac guys eyes.

Oh yeah, the NOVA conspiracy...other than the body skin, some interior and some suspension upgrades Firebirds and Camaros also shared the same platform into the 70's.

                        Thunder Chicken!

Pontiac? Ummm, no. Let it RIP, along with Olds, Saturn, Geo, Plymouth, Eagle, Merkur and Mercury.

Fear not, though. There's still money to be made by GM with the brand name. Though the whole brand itself won't be resurrected, I'm sure they'll (eventually) release some retro-themed "limited edition" models in the future. Look for them at a Chevy dealer sometime a few years from now. Only a matter of time.

The black one with the interior shot has the same dash.

I like Pontiac!!! I borrowed my dad's '84 black 4 dr Bonneville to take some asshole girl to a wedding reception. It had black windows and shit. Well...anywhoooo she wanted to ride my salami (a great idea). So we go in my dad beautiful trible blk Bonne..with plush very velour seats and she proceeds to vomit all over me as I'm poppin' a grape. It was one of those moments..like Rsmacker has every weekend. Well, the puke wiped right off the seats, and my dad never suspected a thing..that was a nice car!!

                            Yeah..bring back the Pontiac...Bonneville...Yeah!!!

Yes It does have the same dash as the Camaro but with the added gold colored turned aluminum like Trans Ams of the 70's and there are some differences in the seats. Still a Camaro at heart, but cosmetically I think they did great with what they had to work with.
