Do we have a thread about this?

Atsushi, what is status? Are you affected? Some worrying videos and pictures are being piled onto the net at the moment.

The nuke plants emergencies are a bit scary at the moment too. Death toll approaching 1,000 and I think it's gonna go a lot higher... Thoughts and prayers go out to the Japanese people, I have heard from the people I know who live there and they are okay, luckily. But so many people have NOT been lucky; I am very sad about this.

Thanks guys and thanks G for the QR info. Prayers to Japan.

Google Earth shows the reported quakes by red markers. The closest one to Chushin Gakki in Nagano is only 25 miles:

        M 5.5, eastern Honshu, Japan

          Hey gang,

Me and my family are alive and well. We have electricity and water again (although the power may go out again tomorrow, according to rumors). I have a bunch of MRE's, and about 20 liters of water in buckets just in case we lose running water again as well.

I live in a "resort" beach town, so we had two friends who live right on the water and their kids stay at our place (8 minutes away from the beach) last night due to the tsunami warnings. It was like a candlelit slumber party for my daughter.

As we only had a battery powered radio to listen to the news last night, I did not realize how the earthquake and ensuing tsunamis had fucked shit up all around the country until I was able to watch footage on television today. I am about two hundred miles south of the worst tsunami strikes, but the local police were not letting people go to the beach all day today.

          Thanks for your concern!

I'm glad you your are ok. SOme of the footage is horrific to say the least. My hats go off to the building engineers who designed those skyscrapers that were rocking back and forth like trees in the wind.

I'm really worried about the nuclear plants as well as after shocks and the possibility of a bigger quake, lot of activity oing on.

I'm praying for all the fine people of Japan...

Let's hope the same guys that did the skyscrapers were also involved in the power plants.

I was watching the news footage of the burning refineries and was thinking, "The only thing missing is Godzilla."

Thankfully the Japanese are generally a prepared and organized people. I think they will show a model example of how quickly a nation can recover from a disaster.

The footage is Insane and the bummer is it's not really over yet as the after shocks could still be huge.
They are going to need a lot of help, and the modern world owes a lot to Japan.
Hope we can all give back and support them as much as possible.

Scary s**t all around, including the nuke plant going down. That does not look good now.

Hopefully, all who work at & live near the Japanese J/C facility are also doing OK.

Thoughts and prayers out to all of our Japanese friends.

I tell you what, those nuclear reactors are whats really bothering me about this. In a matter of seconds, it will go from horrid to unimaginably bad. I hope everything shapes up ok for everyone in Japan.
