  • Need gun help.

Ok, I know where to get guitar help.

Where do you find out about guns?

I've inherrited a 1936 Luger handgun and a 1904 Mouser Rifle. Where do I find out more info on these? Watch Pawn Stars? I was in Vegas but the line to get in was 40 deep to get in.

Take pics of the serial numbers and of all angles of the weapons and PM me. I'll contact a few of my friends who can help you out.

Now, if you want a history lesson on the life of those rifles and where they went/what they did there, you aren't going to get it. I'm sure we could conjur up a story about it, but the fact of the matter is that you have two potentially historically significant weapons. My advice would be to take them to a competetent gunsmith to have all the moving parts cleaned and restored as well as the finish of the weapons. Don't replace anything that might be broken/worn out. Keep them original as the Luger especially carries a lot of historic significance.

The Luger is in great shape (looks new) BUT...serial numbers don't match. The barrel had been replaced. I found a Luger forum. I'll need to take pics for here and there.

The Mauser needs a good cleaning. Not in bad shape but crud build up on places where it was oiled.

Hit local gun shows. The ones that come around here, I've seen some guys that specialize in Luger and Walther stuff and have signs on their tables looking for these models exclusively, especially the WWII era stuff. Those guys know this stuff like JCFers know Jackson/Charvel

Remember not to point them at something you do not intend to shoot.

Might as well post the "4 Rules"

Here are the four inviolate rules of firearms safety as codified by Jeff Cooper (1920-2006) and instructed at Gunsite Academy (nee American Pistol Institute)… memorize them! Make them an integral part of your life, for you will be tested on them as long as you will be around firearms.
