So, mankind has had the microwave for how long now and yet we still cant heat our food evenly with one?? WTF!!! Quit trying to figure out how to send a man to mars and fix my fucking microwave!!!! You can heat a hamburger so hot on the outside that it burns the shit out of your fingers putting it on the bun, but you get half way through the sandwich and you get a mouth full of 40 degree meat!! GOD DAMMIT, this technology needs an upgrade!!!

i use on a setting of 3 to 4 (and people are always asking me what i'm doing, lol), i just heat it up warm enough to eat if it's leftovers. i hate microwave cooking anyway, usually i just use it to heat up my coffee or left overs and defrost stuff, then i use the oven to "cook" it ...and meat out of the microwave is nasty yuck.

Common design problem with how they work. You are taking essentially a 'beam' of energy and trying to spray it around the insides in as even as possible a manner, but it's really impossible to do in a convenient/reliable form factor. You'll always have hot spots. If you have one with a rotating turntable on the bottom it will do a much better job. as it moves the food through the hotspots.

Your wanting to flash nuke it is the problem. Patience grasshopper. If you lower the power setting, lengthen the time, and have the carousel, it will heat much more evenly.

I remember life without a microwave, yes I'm old, and I wouldn't complain about the technology one bit.

My microwave is the Superman of microwaves, its normal power is like 100% on any other one Ive used, it does in fact have the carousel, maybe ill try 50% next time. I normally wont eat anything thats microwave only, but it was late.
