..... they finaly got the DSL service back up!
My internet has been down for like 2 months' ish...after a storm that came through and basically wiped out the DSL substation near me. As I live in the middle of Nowhere, and like 8'ish country miles from the ISP's central hub, they don't really get in a hurry trying to get us fixed up out on this end when there is a problem.
On this lovely occasion not only did this storm take out their substation hub that services the people out here in the boonies, it had the audacity to not only kill the power for like 15 hrs,, when it did, it took my Dsl modem, 1 phone, the Hard drive on my internet computer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
AND MY WHOLE FUGGIN D.A.W. WITH 4 HARD DRIVES WORTH OF AUDIO, PROGRAMS, AND PROJECTS I HAD BEEN WORKING ON!......
Backups?, you say......Well......I did,,,but it just so happens ,They were on the 2TB usb Drive hooked up to the D.A.W. .....And it took that out too. I do have my programs on all the install disks. but pretty much lost everything I have recorded for the last 2 years other than a few MP3's that I have online
So I have Basically been having to log on to the Internet when I go check on my Folks,,,,ON FUGGIN DIAL-UP......at 24kbs no less as Their computer is Ancient,, and still running win2000...lol so even the most basic of tasks have been kinda like..:dead:
Anyway,, I sold one of my Mesa 4x12's and then scored a deal from newegg, and scored a local craigslist deal and ended up being able to replace my whole internet computer, Built a new D.A.W. and with the new harddrive turn the old internet box into a media computer for the big screen in the living room.
The new D.A.W. is waaaaayyyy more powerful than my old one,,as it was on its last leg and I was actually planing an upgrade or new build as soon as a couple of my guitars and some gear I have listed here and there sold.....BUT I could have done without losing all my shit in the process.
Now I still have to finish loading my mountain of software back into the D.A.W. and go through the 500+ emails that are on the ISP's Webmail Server I haven't been able to read.
