I think he means the read/unread message icons for threads that used to be headstocks.

I miss them too. Always thought they were classy looking.
Twitch- I hate to use them, but have you a set of headphones? PITA and doesn't sound as good I know, but could be a solution, I did it for a while when I had babies in the house.
