So, a friend of mine, drummer of the first band I was in moved back to Indy from Chicago. He started jamming with some guys about 3 months ago and they decided to look for a second guitarist. I responded and went over there to jam and party Sat. and Sun.. The music is kind of like a southern metal/ rock kind of music, like Down or Crowbar etc.. Im diggin it. Its challenging, which is nice. The riffs incorporate a lot of scale usage with picking/fingering patterns Im not used to. With the other band recording and not jamming and the fact that Ive been playing the songs for so long and theyre not difficult to begin with, I was getting pretty bored. This is cool, and only a 20 min. drive from my house. I cant wait to get back there the weekend after next and continue getting stuff written and ready for shows. My only complaint so far is that other than the drummer and I, no one has real professional equipment and the bass player kind of fakes it with some if the scale notes, but the bass player is great at arrangement and the other guys CAN play. I guess everyone has their priorities in a different place for what ever reason, so I cant judge, I guess one of my other amps will be getting some use. Anyhow, good stuff!

Yeah, once I find a good way to record it. I wont have the luxury of jamming in a studio with these guys, yet. The real fun part is going to be learning the solos for "Bleed for Me" and "Domination". I have the technique, I think, but I cant hear that fast, so Ive used a computer program to slow the song to a crawl without changing the pitch so I can pick out all the notes. The solo to "Domination" Ive slowed down to like 60-70 bpm and parts of the solo are still twice that, damn Dime had fast fingers, the things at like 220 originally.HTTP 404 - Signature Not Found

^^^^ Thats probably whats going to happen, just trying to give the note for note approach a shot. Id hate to use a short cut by changing it so I can play it efficiently, but I may have to. Im relatively certain the rest of the solo is going to be ok, but Ive gotta get this part down first before I can move on. The other super fast parts of this solo are fingered 1 2 4 1 2 4 1 2 4 alternate picked, so Im not really worried about them and the other scale walk part is at 80 bpm or so. Not worried about the Bleed for Me solo either as its similar in the fingering above, coordinating the wah with that ones gonna be the toughest part.Last edited by Twitch; 06-29-2011, 12:55 PM.HTTP 404 - Signature Not Found
