Any iPad owners here?

If you own one, what do you like and not about it?

I'm thinking getting one for browsing the web and reading emails mostly.

My wife and I like to travel and I've seen more and more folks out there with these. Looks way more convenient than a regular laptop or even those tiny netbook. And it would fits in my wife's purse.

Can you share pictures from a digital cam with an iPad? When you want to send pics to home, family and friends. If I recall well, there is no SD card reader on these but could you get some kind of adaptor?

Let me know your experience. On our last trip, I tested my son's iTouch and was impressed by how many things you can do with these, but the screen is so small, so I can imagine the iPad being a bigger version of these.

I use my iPad for reading. Mostly books and some web mixed in with occassional music, video, netflix watching. Once in a blue moon I use it for gaming. I would say 80% of its use for me is purely for reading books. I do have an interface to run my guitar into it for amp modelling, but don't really use it much. You can get the apple SD reader or if your camera supports it, but the best way to go is an eye-fi card. It just beams the images wirelessly to the device. I use one on my Nikon D90 to sed my shots to the ipad so I can use the bigger screen to check focus and such.

Looks cool but would be a bit scared having my iPad mounted to my pedal board.

I'm planning going to the Apple Store not too far from my house and play a lil' with those iPad to see if they can fit what I want them to do.

I'm no gadget guy (don't even own a cell phone) but the more I read on those iPads, the more they look like fitting what I want as a go-around info/media interface.

Yeah, if you want to use it "anywhere" make sure you get a 3G model, otherwise you are forced to hunt down wifi. I didn't think I would want 3g when I got mine but it's the one thing I wish it had now.

Thanks for noting this Hellbat. When I said "anywhere" I was more thinking "wifi" than 3G and use it as you would use a laptop.

You can always tether it to your iPhone and share the wifi/3g if needed. It's free if you jailbreak your iPhone.

How long do you get from the batterie when doing regular usage on your iPad?

I've never tried to go through it all in one sitting but for normal stuff you are going to get 8-10 hours. Gaming will cut into that pretty good though. Probably takes it down to 5 hours or so depending on the horsepower the game requires. It charges back up fairly quickly with the apple power adapter though. About 1.5 hours for around 75% of a charge.

These numbers are iPad and not iPad 2. I don't know if they've changed on the new hardware with the dual core processor.

Thanks Hellbat. Some Googling on the iPad 2 shows around 8 to 10 hours as for your 1 model.

Bought my wife one. She uses it mostly for web browsing and listening to music. She loves it. You can put pictures on it via iTunes.

Battery life is exceptional. 8 - 10 hours sounds right. Haven't had a single problem with it.

I don't have one yet; I'll wait a while and see what features new models bring. Until then, I'll just keep using hers on those rare instances when it isn't clutched in her mitts.

I have a first gen wifi model. I love it. Great for browsing and non-typing intensive tasks. I loaded it up with movies and music and my kids love it. It's great on trips and vacations too. I go back and forth on the 3G aspect. I didn't want another monthly bill but if I get another I might bite the bullet and get the 3G. The UI is great, I've only had 1-2 apps ever crash (I'm not an app or game freak). It's just a really well made and easy to use product. I'm sure some Android tablet will have something the ipad doesn't.
