  • Which show? COBHC or Dokken

I'm trying to decide what show I should see tomorrow. On one side, there's dokken. I love their music, but Don Dokken's vocals look to be completely shot. Then there's Children of Bodom. I'm only into their music a little bit, but they seem to be top notch as far as music goes.

    Who would you see?

are the venues close enough to catch both? then you could be the only guy here who ever saw Cobkken.

I'm in hartford ct. Dokken is 45 minutes south in New Haven. COB is an hour north in Worchester MA., so no, I can't catch both.

I'm not a COB fan, but I'd take it over a non-Lynch Dokken, specially with Don's poor vocals at the moment. If you go to the Palladium show in Worcester (that's pronunced "Wista!"), make sure you go the lower level and not the bleacher seats on top. The sound is sooo much better on the lower level. I used to frequent that place for shows and always went to the upper level cos I thought the lower level was tiny, but the lower level's actually a lot bigger than I expected.

Definitely COB. I saw them July 8th and they kicked ass. I've seen them three times and they always deliver live. An added bonus, you'll get to see Roope's plumber-crack ass hanging out of his too-tight jeans.

Are Devin Townsend, Septic Flesh, and Obscura opening? All were great except for Devin. He really, really sucked.

              Devin sucked?
I was so blown away by Devin live. Such in intense presence on stage he is...
But I do love his music, dunno wether you like him, but I guess that helps as well.
He can get chaotic, most likely that can be quite stressful for the non-used-to-it listener...
I'm not sure how well he fits into the Bodom-show as well, maybe he just isn't happy with the experience the Bodom crowd gives to him.

But my vote for Bodom as well. Kick Ass live band...

It would be so awesome if Bodom and Devin would tour Europe together as well.

micha - I probably should not have said Devin sucked, as most of the crowd seem to really be in to him. I'm not a fan and that is where my disappointment lies with his performance.

                  Given the choice between them?

                  I'd stay home.

I saw Bodom last year and they kicked ass. I'd never heard any of their stuff, and they blew me away. Definitely a great live band.

If I had the choice, I would go to Dokken, since they are one of my faves, they are on the short list of shows to see again...

i would go to dokken, they're getting (are) old. Not gonna be around for much longer.

also, they sound pretty cool live. Pretty much better. Hearing them do 'kiss of death' is so fuckin gnarly. Sounds way heavier than the original recorded version.

I went to see COB last Thursday at Jaxx in Va., it was a great show. I say go for it! Sorry for the blurry pic but that's the best pic I got with the pit going on behind me.

COB, no doubt. Heard Dokken in NYC a couple of years back opening for Queensryche... not good.

I'd love to say Dokken, but Don's voice sucks now. COB are great, and I love watching their live DVD.
