I haven't shipped anything in a couple of years, but Fedex Ground was about 25% cheaper than UPS or USPS when i was checking and comparing. I live in Mississippi and a Strat-sized guitar in hsc was about $35 insured to anywhere in the US. Guitars in gig bags shipping in the little triangular boxes were as little as $15-$20 depending. A Carvin V220 which was oversized was $40 to go just to Florida, but it was oversized and also rural delivery far outside of any decent size town. Again that info is at least 2 years old though.
