How do these people stay open?

Im getting ready to head to okc to pick up something and um like 75 bucks short so I was like fuck it ill pawn my kelly for enough to get me to payday Wednesday and to cover the 75 bucks. There are 2 pawn shops where I live, one is a mom and pop place, one is a franchise. I go to the mom and pop place first, I look around and the best model of guitar I see is a squire. I show them my kelly and they say "we can't take it" I ask why and they say "well the back plate is missing and it doesn't have a model on it." Im like "its a jackson kelly and I have the plate at home, if I go get it how much can you give me?" They say "do you have any paperwork that proves its a kelly?" Im like "no, but I have the internet on my phone and I can show you" they say "ok well the most we can give you for it is $30" so I leave.

I go across town to an EZ Pawn, walk in, they're actually nice to me and greet me. I put it up on the table and they ask what model it is, I tell them, they look it up, and say "will 275 be enough?" I say "sure" and leave with my $275.

That really irritated me. I needed to vent it out. Thanks for your time. Lol

See thats exactly why I like the ma and pa pawn shops, because they just dont know what they have sometimes. I hate when pawn shops low ball me too though too.

So you only needed 75 but took 275?. Which means you'll have to come up with 343.75 if they have the normal 25% interest.

Dunno if that was a good idea. I.do pawn loans. One thing I always tell people never borrow more than you need. Makes it that much harder to get it back.

I did get more then I need, but I needed 75 plus enough to get me to Wednesday. I took the extra so I can also take my girlfriend out to eat at the cheesecake factory while were down there. Lol

Last time I was gonna go down there and get one it was gone before the weekend and I wanna play it first before I buy it so I won't order it. So when I seen one the other night I knew I had to jump

yeah I got a 5150 (block letter) head @ a mom/pop pawnshop for $400 back in 2004. Hate to think what they gave the guy selling it for it haha

Sounds like EZ Pawn will go out of business. If they gave me $275 I'd never come back

They'd be lucky to get $200 for it.

Thanx for the post. Now I know where there will be a cheap Kelly to score because the pawner obviously won't have the cash to cover the nut!

Haha nah ill have it back. the ez pawn here rips people off when they buy shit not sell shit. They have tons of music equipment there but its all overpriced if you know what youre looking at. They sell tons of shit tho really, wish I could get away with it. If I had sold it to them, they would list it for prob 550-600 and it would sell to some guy who didn't know any better

I wouldn't sell to a pawn shop if I were selling tho, why sell to someone who's just gonna sell it to someone else at a higher price?

Because you would get a good payday NOW and (chances are) they'd be waiting years and years to find that sucker that doesn't know any better

Who knows. You could put it on ebay for $5K like Alienfuckheadnation does

I had scored a sweet USA hamer Californian elite at a pawn shop for 125.00 it was a bit rough but it cleaned up nice and was pretty amazing when fixed up. Sorry I sold it. But I tripled my money. Love pawn shops

No doubt. As much as I love the Internet, it has destroyed all of the great pawn shopping. These days, they'll pull up E-Bay and find something similar where some bozo is asking a ridiculous price and that's how they'll mark theirs.
