  • Scott Ian Rants!!

He has a point about the low sales and the internet..but I think he needs to also come to terms with his bands 'more selective' appeal.

I agree with him 100%!!! Besides, how can ya not love a cool bald metal dude, with a big ass beard!..always sporting pentagrams!? You support your favorite bands, genre, and scene with your money. This is no different than anything else you support, like and vote for..with money.

Meanwhile no talent fuckwards like Beiber are Oprah rich..at the moment! I can't wait 'till that train wrecks! I would include Kim Kardasshian in that company...but just look at that ass. That's her job!

I have advice for Kim Kardashian. You don't need to sing, dance, talk, marry, think, or look for attention. Just STFU and sho dat azz!!!

Pointless whining, he's at least 10 years late. You can't stop what's going on.

Sharing is illegal but not downloading in many countries. Blame the insiders who get the albums early on and upload it.

Stopping people from going to internet is totalitarianism. An information source can't be compared to driving a car.

You can't stop torrent sites as torrent sites don't host copyrighted material.

He's late in the game and doesn't understand how things work.
These days you gotta appeal to the fans in a new way so they would buy the album.
Radiohead for example releases all their material free but their fans also buy a lot of their records.
        That's how things work.

Tell him welcome to the year 2000. Internet piracy is here to stay. And Anthrax albums don't sell like they used to because Anthrax's career peaked back around 1990. Anthrax used to also headline their own arena tours that they really don't do any more. Times changed.

Besides, metal bands have traditionally made more off of touring than record sales anyway. That's nothing new and has been that way since before the internet. It's pop and rap stars who rely mpre heavily on album sales for income than metal bands do.

I am not defending piracy but he should be the first to know that metal bands shouldn't rely on record sales.

Actually even pop artists don't get much from albums sales. Label gets the bucks. All artists have to rely on concerts and merchandising.

Scott is Jewish, he's wearing those "pentagrams" to try and look cool for the guys that like Slayer. Pretty lame.

I've bought every Anthrax album - but I didn't buy the new one, for the simple reason I don't really like it that much apart from "Fight 'Em". Scott and Charlie fucked their singers around for years, almost destroyed the band, talked shit about Joey Belladonna until they had to beg him to come back, then they expect the old fans to forgive all their bullshit and rush out to buy the new album?

              Fuck Scott Ian.

If he wants to sell records maybe he should team up with Lou Reed, I bet if he worked with a classic thrash band they would sell millions, no matter how bad it is.

If they sold as many concert tickets as they did back then then maybe they'd be some truth to this. The past 2 generations don't give a fuck about Anthrax. Maybe if they put out a good album I'd buy it. Except for Stomp 442 and Sound Of White Noise you have to go back to Among the Living for a good album. (I have purchased all three in some form). Our generation is worried about losing their homes and he's crying about album sales. On Piracy- the music industry tries to say that all of it started with the invention of burnable CD's and the internet. yes no one in the past owned cassettes filled with copies of albums they copied from friends or recorded songs off the radio. Teens have always been the ones to buy records, they're all buying justin bieber records. I think this generation is hopeless.

The last Anthrax album is very good, that's why I brought it. I can't say that about Megadeth or many other bands who shine in mediocrity and repetition. But Anthrax isn't a name like Black Sabbath or Metallica. No way they are going to sell millions of records in 2011. Scott is dreaming.

Personally I am stuck in the mentality that if you want to support a band you'll buy a concert ticket and a tour shirt because buying albums supports the label moreso than the bands.

Too bad they didn't come through my city on their latest tour (AGAIN). Oh well. At least I saw them in that Jaegermeister thing last year and saw them back when Scott had that mullet.

Besides, as ugly as it is, they have that "classic" band label on them now. Sure they can still write and play good new music, but fans are more interested in their older stuff.

And if teenage metalhead boys are buying Justin Bieber albums, I will shoot myself NOW and be done with this world.

Sadly true. As much as I liked them, they've doe a lot of wrong to their singers (mainly Joey). I still remember interviews of them making fun of Joey for trying to sound like Journey singer Steve Perry. Plus they fucked over Dan.

Well when you have bands like Black Veil Brides gracing the cover of mainstream rock magazines what do you expect nowadays?

Eh. Sure their music is anthemic gimmicky crap to get kids to sing along in order to suck them into the consumerist aspect but hey at least kids today get to endure skinny gay-looking make-up-clad hair-metal people playing on BC Rich guitars doing metal softened for easy listening for kids. I was so worried that toay's kids were gonna miss out on that blissful part of my childhood.

And this didn't just happen with Anthrax either, they did the same shit to Billy and Dan with S.O.D.
I won't support Scott and Charlie in any way anymore because of the way they treated those band members.
