  • Ran into Andy Timmons today....

I ran into Andy Timmons while at The Guitar Sanctuary in McKinney today. I wanted to test out the Spanish Cedar Raven on a nice amp before shipping it. I'd never visited The Guitar Sanctuary before, but knew that they carried very high end equipment, but they're close to me, so I drove out there. Really nice place, and they were super nice to me. I got to plug in to a nice Mesa (I forget the model), and started noodling around a bit on the clean channel. All was good, so I kicked it over to the distorted channel and started playing Shock Me. I hear two guys start singing along, and sure enough, one of them is Andy Timmons! He played the guitar for a bit, was very complimentary, and was nice enough to pose for a pic!

No, I played on a Mesa combo...I think it was red? I tell ya, I'm so oblivious to amps.

Thanks man! I guess it's funny what playing a little Shock Me can do!

Im pretty sure hes the guy that put on a exhibition at the local guitar store a few months ago. It was a thing for Mesa. He played then would rave about HIS Mesa amps, then play some more. Hes was great, and I learned a few things that night.

EDIT: Yep it was him. Tom Picketts music center, guess its been over a year ago.

Andy will also share his secrets for getting amazing tone featuring his favorite amps and cabs, the Mesa Lone Star, Stiletto Deuce II and TransAtlantic TA-15, mated with the legendary Mesa Rectifier and Lone Star cabinets. Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of the world’s most incredible players perform up-close and personal and find out how you can improve your tone!
Players such as Eric Johnson, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani have invited Andy to perform with them – Come to any of these events and you’ll quickly understand why….
Admission is free, sponsored by Mesa/Boogie and your local Mesa/Boogie Dealer. Admission/Seating is limited and will go fast so make your plans to attend today! Don’t miss it!!!

I think he may live around here, as he does offer lessons on a highly limited basis at the store I was in. Dude's a really good player. I never gave a rat's ass about Danger Danger, but after hearing some of his solo stuff, I'm impressed. And hell, he's making a living doing what he loves. We should all be so lucky. Guy couldn't have been nicer.

Sully, that Raven is absolutly beautiful. Stunning. If Johnny Winter would see that , he would have to smile.

Andy Timmons is a killer player! I didn't know he gave lessons even on a limited basis. If he I was in my area I'd say sign me up! Youtube has plenty of videos of him live and I particularly like like his instrumental Beatles meddley, just incredible.
