  • Sick of B & E

I've been playing for over 20 years (alright maybe it's getting closer 30), but just now tried my first set of electric strings with a wound 3rd. Pretty damn nice.

Wound G, yeah. The wounds just feel so good I want to neglect the wires, you know.

You have to bend much further to reach a given pitch with wound strings vs plain strings. i.e. have to travel farther vertically on the fretboard. Too far IMO and I won't deal with a wound G simply for that reason.

I'm with Chad on this one. But if you're purely a rhythm player, I don't see why you wouldn't prefer wound strings as you won't have as many difficulties with intonation/tuning.

I got a set of D'Addarios once that had a lightly wound third. It was either an 18 or 19, and it was decent, but I still preferred the plain 17 I'm used to.

Bondage and Enemas. Who could tire of those pleasures?
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

                      I nearly broke her back

So thats how it is around here.
                          1. Don't assume that just because I'm old, slow, and don't video myself on youtube, that I must only be a rythm player.
                          2. OK, maybe I am. But if I practice really hard, everyday, I know that I too will be on youtube someday. And eveybody will talk about how good looking I am and have heated discussions about my talent
                          3. Never joke about bacon.
                          4. Or beer.
                          5. Or toques.
