Guitar Center Gift card question

I'm thinking of buying a Guitar Center gift card at less than face value off of Craigslist. If I can verify the balance on the card, it there still a way of being scammed. I'm thinking of going to straight to Guitar Center and buying something within an hour of the transacation or at least asking GC to transfer it to a new card. I don't think it's a scam but you never know. It will be a face to face transaction and I'll be getting the seller's cell phone number ahead of time and will get the license plate number too.

You can call, or check it at the guitar center website. I've done the same thing. I just called the 800# on the back of the card to verify the balance.

Have the seller meet you at your local GC and verify the card and the amount before you buy it. I have done this before and didn't have any problems.
