I'm just stoppin by to say that Michael Scarn is as witty, sharp, and cunning as a used tampon...which insults every rag in the history of bleeding poon. These are facts!

Suck on that ..two times! Oh, and if you're thinkin' 'bout throwin' barbs at me..you better be put on your big boy pants!

I swear, everytime I see one of his post..it gives me a fuggin' rash!

Twitch...one word....Fuggums. Take this as a blessing and move on brother! Enjoy time with the family and practice. You'll just come back swingin' harder in a new gig man.

Nimzy, guys..keep this jerkoff in check while I'm gone. I got in an "arguement" today, while driving in a snowstorm. I F'd my back dealin' with another fuggin' jerkoff. I'm a jerkoff magnet. Jerkoffs...jerkoffs...fuggin' jerkoffs.

        Later guys,

        Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

I take a different approach. I would rather be the rash in the band than quit. If I bugged the crap out of my lead singer and his wife I would consider that a good thing. I also am a very confrontational person. Especially when it comes to my band. No bitch is going to get in the way of my band. Another thing bro.... try never to get your wife, significant other, girlfriend, boyfriend, gerbil, whatever... involved in the band. I have been in Fools Faith for almost 7 years and my wife has been to maybe 1 show and has never interacted with any band member or their partners. She doesn't even know where I rehearse except that its in New Jersey. For my local band TCO, we had several gigs already and all the wives have gone to most of the shows. None of them were introduced to each other. Thats intentional. It cuts down on potential drama.

sorry dude, I didn't see read all the drama posts but you have a problem if you can't play out on Saturday nights, that is the most popular time for bands to play. Quit the band or tell the wife to work normal hours. Can you imagine an NFL player quitting football because the only time he gets quality time with his wife is Sunday afternoons? I know an extreme analogy but you get the point.

That's a good mindset for doing something well (and how I tend to behave, unless I'm carefull), but it works less well for something that you don't make your living off, and it requires very understanding people around you. With my band, we have an agreement that it's just a hobby and that other stuff takes priority, and we practice only once a week and may gig now and then. We still try to do as well as we possibly can with the time we have available.

The analogy is bad in the sence that an NFL player is making a living off it, or an aspiring NFL player is trying to get to that point, and what he does is, hence, an investment in the future. That may not be the goal of every band out there.... and I don't know if it applies here, but it doesn't sound like it.

I think Shawn has a great point as usual. Saturday night is the biggest night for gigging. His wife should understand regardless of her work schedule. I think his bandmates actually are warranted to be ticked off. My point is I just don't understand musicians getting their wives involved in their band stuff. Didn't any of you learn from Yoko Ono.
Twitch, you should be telling your old lady that she can come to the gigs on the Saturday's she has off and watch her man tear it up knowing that out of all the girls at the club, you are going home with her.

The difference JG, Shawn, is that my wifes happiness is more important than the band. It came time to choose, I chose. Instead of respecting my decision, the singer and his wife got all butt hurt and brought my wifes character into question. Furthermore, my request to them wasnt NO saturdays, it was not every single saturday every month. It was simple, leave one whole weekend, saturday and its following sunday, open once per month, unbooked. That was too tall of an order to even consider apparently. I bailed.

                    That sucks,

I was coming to see you guys next Friday.

The band I quit (Six Feet from Peace) is on the bill with your ex band! How does that work for irony!!!

My reason for quiting was lack of ingenuity and talent on several points. Almost everyone in the band was good at what they did and we were tight. But No-one had any interest in progressing musically and stepping up the skill & complexity. It just stuck at this chug chug metal groove, which was ok, for them. I wanted something more.

I did say almost everyone was good, the guy that sang was awful!, but him and the rhythm guitarist went way back so there was no way he was going to get kicked out. The only other instrument he could play was guitar. There was no way I was going to get them to step it up and in order to make it anywhere we had to get a better singer. The choice was obvious but unfair.

I had to quit. Initially the then drummer and the bassist wanted to come with me. And for a while we were working on a new project, but it soon became apparent that the bassist couldn't keep up with the new material. He split and went back to that band. So we are left with me and the drummer, Eric.

The old band, now with the original bassist and the original singer on lead guitar (my old job) got a rapper and a drummer and have changed things up to become "50/Six feet". Recorded a demo, and got themselves in at the Murat. It never would have happened if I stayed in, since the old singer would still be singing, badly!

I wish them the best of luck, and it sucks that they get a shot and I am still struggling to find a fucking solid set of members that don't flake!

It has been collectively agreed upon that I WILL do the Murat show, so come on out. It will be the last time Ill be gigging for the foreseeable future.

I totally understand that and respect your decision Twitch and seems like a reasonable request to at least have one weekend off a month. Having said that from my experience, when you tell a club "no" more than once, you wont get back there unless its on a Wednesday night with 10 drunks at the bar The other wife seems like a cunt and should mind her own business. I'm also in 100% agreement with John, chicks, girlfriends, wives have no place in rehearsal at any time and not involved in any gig other that watching her man perform from an audience perspective.

Warning... warning... warning... Nothing is more important than the band when you are a musician.
Hey, you do what you feel you have to do but if it was me I would have stuck it out and had fun making my bandmates miserable.
Thats half the fun of being in a band.
There are only a few reasons why you should quit a band.
#1. The band sucks. Members that suck can be replaced but if the overall band sucks well... bail.
#2. If you are joining a better band.

That MAY be true if the band were trying to get signed and make it big. In his case they weren't. I stand with him in regards to his wife and kids being more important than a hobby project.

How many times during your confrontations do you say "I have never not been in a band since I was 17 years old!" ?
