Look buddy,we officially apologized for Celine Dion 3 years ago.

And I do love hockey and the toasted coconut covered chocolate timbits. Rush was rammed down my throat because they helped the radio stations achieve Canadian Content minimums. Technically my favorite Rush song isn't really a Rush song. But it kicks a ton of ass IMO...

OK, but y'all can probly guess about mine.
Time Machine, enjoyed that to the extreme.
After exploring their own history forward and backwards for two hours
the lights went to 1970's style sparse white and they came out
with this the audience went INSANE.
          I'll never forget it!

Probably Presto. It's not a good recorded song, but live it's really cool

              Agree about Kim Mitchell!!!

but there is no denying the uniqueness, insane talent at every position, and now even more eye popping than before their endurance
as a whole. Truly remarkable. When is the last time a rock band released a concept album? I'm sure it's been done by bands i haven't heard of or from,
but Rush is a constant. They cannot be stopped. Did I mention the highest standard of talent and playability? And as i said, i'm not a huge fan, not like
the ones that follow their every move, and for those people that do , I don't blame them, they are right.
Could not have said it better! Agree with you Atomic Charvel!

For what it's worth, I've been trying to learn some Rush tunes lately and it's quite a challenge on both rhythm and lead sides.

That's my issue as well. I'm not Canadian but DAMN our local stations growing up played Rush so much that anything else was considered filler material. I respect them musically but to this day I can only take them in small doses.

Here in Texas the local ahrd rock station STILL has the same format it did 20 years ago........RUSH.....metallica......Rush..........s ome new shit..............RUSH..........some old hair-metal shit..............RUSH.....and so on....

It's probably a reason why Rush sold out a 27k-capacity place here in San Antonio on their last tour while in other cities a lot of venues weren't quite so big. We're kind of big on Rush here.

Don't tell Geddy but I could easily just take Rush for their instrumentals alone.
Yes, I was (and still am sometimes) one who just could not stand the singing.
YYZ, Strangiato, a host of others would carry me for a very long time.

It's an acquired taste like fine mushrooms, sushi, or cigars.
I take Geddy's singing because it opens the door for Peart's lyrics.
Now that's a whole other dimension that takes a lifetime to explore...but
much of it coincides with my own reading and experiences.

Pink Floyd is very dark and oppressive.
Peart shows us there is hope at all times...look at his own life for proof.
Rush has FUN and don't seem to take themselves too seriously at all.

I couldn't even imagine the neurotic Roger Waters doing anything like that.

That's why I'd let him be in my band, cuz of the good natured ness

Seriously, yeah Geddy is a little tough on the ears.... Superb musicianship always, thought provoking lyrics that get political at times(thinly vieled
always, a thoughtfull mans band). FFS if anyone doesn't pickup that the trees is about racism, they're just thick. Over the vast catalog of albums almost every subject of modern life has been addressed wether through innuendo or directly... and did I mention Neil Pert?

Anyone who plays rock music, should be blown away with his playing!!! A true musician...
Enjoying a rum and coke, just didn't have any coke...

Yeah no, Neil Peart isn't "Captain Serious"...

Don't see why this became a pissing match between Rush and PF?
Guess everything has to be a competition or it isn't worth doing...

                              HEY!
                              I still like PF...a lot!
                              No pissing match here.

No Peart isn't exactly a barrel of monkeys in the humor department.
It's the fact he could put his life back together after the incredible tragedies.

My interpretation of Trees isn't limited to racism.
It's more generally about class warfare on many levels whether intentional or not.
