  • My New ESP LTD H1007FR

A few weeks ago I bought my first seven string. I looked at the Jackson offering and wasn't too thrilled. I already own a KE2 and RR1 and have been ready to try something new (non-Jackson) so I did a lot of comparing and decided on the ESP LTD H1007FR (which I mentioned in my 7-string post at that time). Since I bought the guitar (and case) I have been nothing but elated! The build quality is supreme. The tone is amazing - from thundering low, grinding, crunching, brutality to sweet clean tones. The thing plays like butter (25.5" scale length, jumbo frets, rosewood fb) and is easier and smoother playing than my Jacksons (sorry Jackson! I still love you). The flame maple top is killer. In bright lighting it sometimes looks transparent blue, sometimes purple, sometimes gray, and in dark lighting it looks solid black. The craftsmanship and setup is as good as my Jacksons (in fact my KE2 had an unfinished/poorly finished spot at the pickup end of the bridge). My only complaint is that the Floyd Rose is a less expensive one, which means the nut clamp screws are not proper hardened steel. I already stripped one. But thankfully I have lots of replacements from old ones. Oh, and all this at less than half the cost of my KE2. Plus, the case is properly sized, not the behemoth gigantor case you get with Jackson guitars. Thanks for the free case, Jackson, but the thing is gargantuan! Not to mention, the metal feet break off in mere weeks. Sorry, I'm not trying to bash Jackson. Just being honest.

Anyways, here's a vid of me playing it if you're interested.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

A shining example of exactly what I mean when I tell people "not all inexpensive guitars are cheap". Great vid Annah. It shows how much you really enjoy your new 7 string. And nothing at all wrong with diversity in your collection. Hell, currently I have 4 guitars and two basses, of which I regret to say only one is a Jackson (love my RR3).

Nice one, Annah. 7-strings are a blast, and that's really the only thing I've been playing lately.

There is nothing like going " CHugga -Chugga Chugga"....except dropping the the B to an A and going " Chugga Chug Chug Chug Chugga Chug chug chug....Cha Chug chug chug" with 1 finger. Damn....I miss my 7 string. -Lou
