i listened to all the tracks. i like the melody in bustle, dream of etherium, footsteps
in awake, the recording level needs to be raised. i understand it's acoustic but seems lower than the other songs. not sure what's happening there.
the road ahead has a funky beat to it. almost 70s beat to it. it doesn't do anything for me personally and is not the best tune on the cd--just my honest 0.02 cents opinion of course. hopefully it will be received as a constructive criticism. i would have preferred it to be a bit "harder," something that represents the spirit of this cd, given that it's the cd's title. alternatively i would have named the cd after another tune, one that is the best. or.... i would rename "bustle" the "road ahead" and have that song as the lead of the cd (and rename the current road ahead tune as bustle).
anyway, very nice job. and thanks for sharing!
The "theme" behind the title of the CD, the title track, and the cover image are linked - you don't know what's ahead. It might be good, it might not be, and it might be more of the same. The road ahead is different for each of us.
Musically, I did think about adding a solo, but I had 3 options: typical cliche` SRV, nothing, and something abstract. Rather than jump in the pile of everyone else who cops SRV, and not wanting to be the guy accused of doing a bad Frank Zappa impersonation, I chose to do nothing :p
Awake is actually 5-string bass. I had to lower the volume to prevent blowing speakers. Even with peak limiting, it was still too violent. Can't cut the bass too much more or you lose the 5th string entirely.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
