  • Luongo is not a 'problem'. The team didn't score in front of him. That said, Schnides is winning.

Luongo will either be on the 'nucks next season or be with another team and that team will contend. The Leafs have some components that they could trade for either Lou or Schnides...but then, so do many teams. Off season will be almost as interesting as the playoffs.
My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

    • Here's hoping SJ can land Suter. And hoping they pick up Stuart.

Things are a mess consistently. I'm not even sure where to look except the trade for Havlat... Setoguchi didn't amout to much after the trade, but he was pretty clinch for us last year. I'm hoping they sign Winnik for a good few years. I was willing to give Niemi a chance, and even though his game is great when he's on, he always lets a few soft ones in due to his sometimes horrible positioning. Even though we didn't play horribly for 3 games, you can't win if you can't score.

Oh well, I've kept out of this thread earlier due to not wanting to jinx my team. Now I'm a bit recovered after seeing the handshakes.

Oh, FWIW, Torres absolutely deserved that 25 game suspension. I'm surprised and disappointed that it didn't come with a $50k+ fine. Comparing Torres to Pavel Bure? lol. Pavel Bure only got that $500 fine because he hasn't repetitively tried to brutally take out opponents. I love the fights and the hard hits in the NHL, but if you're going to compare Torres to anyone, why not pick mcsorely.

      • well, my team bought themselves another 60 minutes at home.
who would of ever thought that Shawn, Rupe, and Batty are already out of it? And I'm knocking on the door to join them if
it doesn't go well on thursday night. Even Cliff is in jeopardy right now. Who'd have thought?

        • Last night's game was bad. Giving a penalty to one of the Sens for a Ranger plowing into him and forcing him onto Lundquist under the excuse that he should have been able to see behind him? And the Rangers scored a goal on that 5-on-3 power play.

There was shit-reffing all over the place to force a game 7; probably so at least one big market "star" team can advance to the next rounds.

          • I wonder if Lundqvist will get a fine by the league for blasting the officials for blowing the call on the second Ottawa goal? I have never seen Henrik that vocal or pissed off before. The problem is, to my eyes anyway he is flat out wrong and Toronto was correct in determining not enough evidence to overrule the call on the ice as a good goal. Lundqvist should really be pissed off at himself as Neal did the Charlie Brown and wiffed on his kicking attempt, he never touched, It looked lie after he fanned on the kickin that Lindqvist hit the puck in his own net while reaching for it to cover it up. The best part was Torts after they confirm it was a good goal, could read his lips plain as day "Are you fucking kidding me" LOL

Game 7 is going to be good. This is why you want home ice advantage

            • never would have thought after round one you'd have Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, San Jose and Vancouver all out. That is 3 recent cup winners, Western conference finalists and Presidents Trophy winners all hitting the gold courses.

              • I'm close to joining you all as well, i'm at the edge. That whole game was fucking filled with shitty calls, not just for the rangers either.
I'm not crying about the goal being called good either, every game is fucked up.

                • If they suspend Del Zotto for that hit, i am officially dropping hockey. that's a fact.

                    • Tommy, you have home ice advantage. I don't think it matters much in early games in a series but it certainly does in a game 7.

Rangers advance with a 4-1 win tomorrow

                      • Wow, that was either A) a kick or B) goalie interference. I'm really surprised it was a good goal.

I'm calling Craps, Sens (sorry Tommy), and Panthers.

                        • Watch it a few times Scott, player pushed into the netminder, not interference. Neil kicked at the puck but never touched it. Since it was called a goal on the ice, there was not enough video evidence to overturn that, its inconclusive you cannot tell me he made contact wit the puck therefore the call on the ice has to stand.

I will say this, the officiating in this years playoffs is the worst I have ever seen. I've been a hockey nut since I was 3 or 4 and thought I saw it all...this year is fuckin pathetic to say the least. Having said that, the call was correct on the Sdns 2nd goal.

Not only that, but the penalties have been all over the fucking place with people getting 1-game suspensions for hits worst than guys who got multi-game suspensions.

I am honestly getting the impression that the league is trying to control the outcome of the playoffs

More than a few times I've seen calls that looked more legitimately like they're trying to change momentum at key points in the game rather than make calls consistently.

                              • Xeno, they're not penalties if a star player is the one doing it...the 3rd and 4th liners get called all of the time lol.

I'm not typically a complainer of officiating, just as Mickey Redmond says in some local commercial, "there were times I was sent for the penalty box for something I didn't do, but hey, the ref's the ref's". Having said that I hate the two ref system since day one. This is where the game began its downward turn (Bettman, salary cap, rule twkage also part of the blame). It baffles the fuck out of me that a battle along wall with a guy with the orange/red bands on his arms is his 2 feet away watching the battle then out of fucking nowhere the whistle blows from the other douche in orange/red arm bands 75-80 feet away calls a penalty. How the fuck can a guy 75 feet away see somnethign that the dude 2 feet away can see? WTF.

Since I'm in a slightly agitated mood I hate the cap and parity. Why not do away with 82 game seasons and just give each team 85-90 points and play a 5 game season to see who makes the playoffs? Basically out of 30 teams, 20 of them could be potential parity Stanley Cup winners. Look at Philly' season a whle ago, snuck into the playoffs on the last game of a season with a skills competition parity point win, then go to the Cup finals. I hate seeing team going a good run in regular season, say like a 10-12 game win streak but get no separation in the standings with all the teams getting parity points for shootouts. Bitch, you get nothing for losing and like it mmkay?

With cost certainty why should an owner of an NHL franchise (who only owns a team because he's bored and knows nothing about the game or how to run a successful sports franchise) receive subsidies from the league and owners who know the game, invest in the product they put on the ice and are successful? The NHL is socialistic, if you cannot run a team, that is your problem, not other owners problems.
