Yes...I thought the Blues would do better but I can see the Sutter influence. They better get it done this season because that wears off after a couple of seasons. He's a great coach but being GM too is too much for most coaches and that's a big part of what messed up the fortunes of Calgary.

I still have a hate for Webber. He's on my permanent dislike list.

Oh well...they got the job done against who they needed to get it done against!!
My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

Truth be told they've underachieved for a couple seasons. Bringing in some Canadian playoff vets from Philly and getting cup winner (but underachiever) Penner is helping them take the next step. Throw in dynamite goaltending and you have a threat to win it all.

      • I love how Pierre McGuire was saying the high sticking on Hagelin wouldnt matter like the Rangers wouldn't tie up in the waning seconds of the 3rd...catches himself and trys to do damage control after they give a double-minor. Yeah. it did matter asshat, the Rangers tied it and WON it on that double-minor!

HUGE win there but the Rangers have to be better to get the 4th win...

        • i know about my bitching about the refs, but that was trip, or fucking faggot slash call, it was a stick to the face.
what a stupid penatly to take by the caps. and a partly greasy win by the rangers.
          i still think it's going 7.

            • shawn, overall, the rangers have outplayed the caps as far as possession and control, seriously, in my opinion
              they have.

              • Tommy possession and control mean nothing...ask Detroit about that

I really didn't think the officials were that bad last night in terms of the calls they made but damn...get the fuck out of the way of the players. 2-3 different times last night the refs were like a defender for the Flyers running interference and picks on Rangers players along the wall and behind the net.

I hope you finish them off tomorrow Tommy. You guys don't want another 7 game series.

possession and control matters when you have lundqvist. the Caps have more blocked shots than the rangers do because for the first
time since i can remember, the rangers have the puck more. Holtby is impressive.

                    • Here's one for the conspiracy theorists. A team owned by the league itself is currently advancing (for the first time in that franchises history) past the 2nd round. I haven't been watching their series' but I would be pretty suspicious every time there was a shaky call (or non-call) there.

Now instead of trying to move a team that has struggled to make the playoff for several seasons, the league can say "Look how valuable this franchise is now! Late round playoff ticket gate revenue all goes to the owners!"

Ironically they are announcing news about a potential deal now...

                        Tell me about it.
This is a team that has choked every time they made it to the playoffs and now all of a sudden they are contenders?

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they finally made it, but the timing is very suspicious.

                        • hey if Phoenix wins the cup will Gary Bettman had the cup to himself?.

I honestly haven't put much stock in conspiracy theories but the last several years are making me have some doubts based on playoffs. From officiating, phantom calls, to inconsistencies in calls made, the inconsistencies supplemental discipline handed out, to way the league schedules series likeback to back playoff games scheduled in games 4 and 5 where 1200 miles between cities. Winning a series on Wednesday and starting the next series on a Thursday (no time off in between series) etc etc. The league can manipulate any outcome so is it really coincidence that a failed franchise, bailed out by the 29 other owners and the league has playoff success for the first time in franchise history (including when in Winnipeg) ...maks you go hmmmm doesn't it?

it only matters when it matters. If it doesn't affect outcome its pointless I've seen the Wings play keep away for 50 of the 60 minutes yet have 3x's as many penalties as the team who is chasing all night and then lose the game on a nicely timed opponent power play with 2:30 left in regulation . I've seen the Wings fire 50-60 shots on goal and lose. Goals are what matter

The Rangers need to just keep firing away. My strategy of a good shot blocking team is to keep shooting at them, fuck the net...hit the shot blocker I honesty don't understand needing to HAVE a lane to shoot the puck every single time. If the guy is blocking the lane and giving you have 5-10 feet of room step into that fucker and let your hardest slapper fly at ankle level. Sooner or later they'll have shot blockers leave the game with an injury and people getting out of the way and shooting lanes opening up

How about Brad Richards? Dude is money when it matters...he was close to 70% in the circle last night...set up Gaborik numerous times (no luck there) and gets the big game tying goal to force OT. Dude is just playoff clutch!

I agree. Shot blocking is dangerous. If people are afraid to block your shots it gives you a huge advantage. Same with occasional head-raping shots at the goalie. It's harder to concentrate on making plays when you are working hard to just survive.

Back when the Canucks had Jiri Slegr, people were afraid because he had this crazy 95MPH rising headhunter slapshot. NOBODY would stand in fron tof the net when he was teeing it up hehe.

                              • i watched callahan on the last day of the season last year get his leg broken by Chara's slap shot, causing him to miss the playoffs.
Littlest guy on the ice has the most heart, it's pretty amazing. Richards is already proven before last night.
                                Prove it again Brad!!
