It might sharpen up a bit more at ISO 200 F/11, but I'm not super familiar with Canon lenses so maybe F8 is their sweet spot.

Google has a thing where they photmapped the Moon like they did for the Google Earth app. It shows not only the American landings, but also the dozen or so Chinese unmanned landings.

It actually should sharpen up a lot. I added a couple notches of "clarity" in LR4 which is almost like a smart sharpen, but I didn't add any direct sharpening in post or at export. So it's a typical slightly soft 5D2 image. It's also a 100% crop, so it didn't get any downsizing sharpness either.

I also could have gotten a sharper image if I waited for the moon to rise more, and I was also at sea level shooting through SF Bay Area smog.

Not the greatest picture, but I'm happy with it.

Oh, and I did take shots at other apertures from 5.6 to 11... I just picked the ones that looked the sharpest. BTW, I hate how processed sharpening looks if you overdo it, so I tend to stay far away from crossing that line.

On a side note, I realize how badly I need glasses. I have to look at my pictures at weird angles or my astigmatism makes them a bit blurry. :\

And Bill, feel free to buttsecks the Moon. As if you haven't done that before though.

3. given the opportunity to go to the moon, I would jump at the chance. no matter the risks and danger, I would go in a second not even thinking twice about it. I cant even begin to imagine watching the earth rise. that has to be the most beautiful experience ever witnessed by a human being. only 6 people have done it. (I think thats correct, not sure though)
