If I recover, will you do me a favor?

No, not store 30 cases of pickles at your house

I feel your pain there, Ron! I unloaded my pushbike a couple of years back, and beat myself up pretty good. I was wearing fingerless cycling gloves - there's a bloody pointless idea, I lost most of my fingertips. Couldn't play for a couple of weeks...

This is very good advice. I bruised some ribs during allergy season once. Sneezing SUCKED every time.

Hope you're not too badly F'ed up Ron, and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Wow, Tommy, has it been 5 months? I've been meaning to drop by & visit you...

                  ------My update----

Doctor's office @ 8AM had me go immediately to the X-ray office (2 cities away) so I got my chest X-rayed, then back to Los Alamitos for my exam - had to wait a ridiculously long time because I didn't have an appointment. Doc listened to my lungs; they sound excellent, so no collapse. He didn't think my rib(s) are fractured, but he's gonna get the Xray results soon; I'm getting a phone consultation later on today. Probably just bruised rib or intercostal muscle. My rt shoulder still hurts like a bitch though, so he gave me a bunch of Ibuprofen and wrote me a get-out-of-work-for-a-week note.

Right now I'm on my laptop at a McDonald's (iced coffee only), gonna figure out where to have lunch. No bike riding, tennis, or gym work for a while I guess (damn, I hope I don't gain back those 40 lbs I just lost this year!)

I thank you all for the well wishes! And jkf for the sig line surgery!

Glad your okay. I occasionally have been using my 1993-era Cannondale M700 to get to work. Biking thru Manhattan is an interesting ride to say the least. Most of my commute is thru central park which is has little traffic, but the rest of it can be hairy sometimes. No big wrecks yet, but during my first month doing this I had an interesting event. I’m always looking out for people opening their doors from cars parked on the right hand side, since getting doored is not on my list of to do’s. I’m navigating between a parked car on the right and a stopped taxi cab on the left, which was stopped at a redlight. So just as I’m passing by the rear door of the cab, the door flings opens and hits me square on my thigh and pushes me with enough force that I lose my balance and end up on the hood of the parked car. Luckily no one was in the parked car to get aggravated, plus it was one of those limousine-service cars, so who cares if I wax it with my torso right?

BTW, nice job on the weight loss! That’s a shitload in a small amount of time. You gotta tell us your secret. I’ve been trying to lose some myself, but man it's tough.

Ouch! Hope everything is OK. I ride a few of the trails near here, and a few pro teams train here too. A flip sucks ass, too many different ways to land and get messed up. I guess so far so good, heal up soon man!
