  • Those with multiple guitars (most of us?)...

What is your absolute favorite to play?

Not JUST Jackson/Charvel. Which out of your herd is your go-to guitar? J/C or otherwise.

    And why?

My PC-1 is still the first one I go to, but my Austin LP copy is always second.
My Mexi strat is third... the rest are what ever I feel like playing at the moment.

Seven guitars in constant rotation but the one that gets the most attention
is always whatever ends up on the one hanger right next to me here in the "shop".
            Jackson DKMGT.

            Why?
It's really easy to play and it sounds fantastic with the pickup upgrade/50's wiring.
            And cheap!

            The others?
            In order:
Barndoor Bich (The porch weasel, I don't care if it gets dinged up on the lawn furniture).
            Charvel Model 5
            Homebrew 1960 LP Standard
            Hamer Phantom A2
Jackson PS4 (Needs upgrades to be a steady player).
Charvel Model 88 (Just don't play it much because I don't want to wear it out).

Much less often an Ibanez acoustic and my wife's MIC Squier.
Giving away a Kramer ST300 to a nephew, but it used to get played a lot too.

Out of 4 I currently have, the Epi LPS is the one I pick up the most. It has a nice weight to it(about 11lbs), has a nice growl and tone and you can pull pinch harmonics out of it sooooo easy. The other 3 I use for variety. They all bring something to the table, but all around the Epi is the most rounded instrument. A lot of people cut on the Epis, I must have just gotten a lucky one, its completely stock still too.

I rotate fairly reguarly...for a while it was my DK1....but right now it's my strat...once I'm over that I'll move onto to one of the others for a while.

My les Paul however gets no love at all!

My RR1T is my main player. It sounds the best to me plugged in and unplugged, and it's my best playing guitar. My Taylor acoustic gets the second most playtime.

My string through guitars get most of my attention. I love Floyd's and have no problem playing them floating or blocked dive only, I just like the feel of a hard tail a little better.

This means my RR1 and Model 5 sit the most with the RR1T, DKMGT, and Hello Kitty Strat getting the bulk of my attention. I'm considering replacing the RR1 and HK Strat with a PC1 down the road to add a sustainer to my bag of toys, and to cut down on the herd size.

                    I've been on a YJM trip…

                    Overall? 89 RG570 with EVO’s.

Tone+bridge+action, but mostly feel. Nothing touches it. It’s like old shoes I guess.

My RR5FR is my main axe, behind it is the RR3 that my rhythm guitarist is playing at the moment. Got a KVX10 with Floyd that sits at #3 in the roster, all tuned to D. Have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro that sits at drop C for some new tunes we're working on. No backup for it yet. Need to swap its pickups sometime soon, as it's too weak.

At home for casual picking is my trans blue DK2M, tuned to Eb, my tuning of choice.

My 97 jackson les Paul redburst custom shop is taking up all my time these days. The perfect combo of everything for me. Told my wife I don't need to buy anymore. She laughed and said yeah right....

My SLSMG is the one that I currenty reach for first. I took out the HZ's and put in a JB/Jazz combo that absolutely kill in this guitar. Coming is 2nd is my Agile AL-3100. I installed a set of Seymour Duncan APH-2's and they sound great.

My custom shop trans bengal guitar. Great feel and sound. The twin humbuckers split to single coil which gives it a wide variety of tones. 18 volt EMG's have plenty of headroom. And most importantly, it looks Awesome!
