  • Bare Knuckle Holy Diver vs. Suhr Doug Aldrich

I'm going to be replacing the Duncan JB in my SL2h but I can't decide between the Bare Knuckle Holy Diver or the Suhr Doug Aldrich. Which would you guys choose and why? Best lows? Best mids? Best highs? I'm all ears.

I'm going for that sexy hair metal tone.

    Thanks all!

Having owned both I'd got with the HolyDiver in there. If it's a normal SL2H, you'll maybe find the DA to be a bit brighter and harsher since it's wound mainly for Doug's Les Pauls. The HolyDiver is a tighter and more awesome JB.

I don't have or have heard any BK pups but I do have the Suhr in my DXMG and I'm not all that happy with it. I have mostly JBs in most of my other guitars and to get a good sound I have to re-eq it. Which is a bit of a pain when I use several guitars per show. Salesman got me.
I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.

Why not just have Seymour Duncan himself rewind your JB to the particular specs you want? He does have a custom shop that will do anything.

No experience with the Aldrich, but the Holy Diver is an awesome pickup for that 80s sound. Totally a super distortion-esque vibe to my ears.
            I like EL34s.

Really? How much extra does that usually run? I would love a screamin deamon's hotness with a jb, mabe a little less high and a little more mid (sorry to thread jack)

Not sure how much extra, but check out their forum or call Duncan. Seymour or his leading winder, Maricela Juarez, will do whatever you'd like.

Custom pups from the Duncan custom shop are usually like $140-160 depending on the specs. At that point it might be better to get the BKP.
