This was the Sunday before Memorial Day though. Most people were off the next day. It's just that a lot of bands don't have any energy anymore, Tate-ryche included. The show before this, the M3 Festival, it was obvious that they didn't want to be near eachother. Hell, he left before the end of the set and the band took a bow without him.

Then there's the incident where he allegedly overheard their plans to fire him and he got into a fight with Rockenfeld and Wilton (and pulled a knife), which has only been addressed in a "no comment" capacity.

Well this was news to me, so thanks for the info! But I'm sorry, QR without DeGarmo, and definitely now w/o Tate, is not Queensryche. Oh well, I have everything up to Empire in my iTunes to enjoy and remember what they once were.

Guess I went to the wrong concerts

It's a sad day when Charlie Brown is out of Queensryche.

Having had a day to think about it, I'm kinda sad things came to this. The band hasn't been the same to me in almost 20 years, due to various things, but when DeGarmo left things took a swift dive for the worse. Nothing they've done since has interested me. So, on the one side I'm happy for the band because they've got someone who might allow them to return to the era that I enjoyed, but without DeGarmo I agree that it is...questionable. And while I'd love to see him return (and I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of a collaboration), I doubt they'll punt the new kid out.

As for Geoff, he's obviously moving in a different direction musically and personally. I mean, you load his page and it shows wine being bottled as the centerpiece. Between that and his "heavy metal is dead" ideaology, it's time for him to move on. I love what he did, and I always will, in the band's first few years...but everything since has been a mess.

I agree 100%. Became a fan right after hearing Rage For Order and loved their music all the way through Hear in the Now Frontier (weakest album), but when DeGarmo left, the soul of the band left too. The Whip, SRock and EdBass are an exceptional rythm and guitar section, but DeGarmo took 90% of their "sound" with him when he left. He flies corporate jets now (or did).

the music started sucking after Empire, and the band started sucking when DeGarmo left. damn shame, at their peak around 91 or so, they were fuckin amazing live.

The need to call on a guy I've worked with a bunch times named Chris Salinas. He's got a Queensryche tribute band and is the closest to Tate that I've ever heard ( plus he's a really nice and himble guy. I'd love to see him hit the big time a la Ripper Owens). I even fooled one guy into thinking I have a live Queensryche bootleg with a recording of them doing Queen Of The Reich. Check out some live recordings on their myspace page.

Yes, Tim Owens needs another band to join and get kicked out of. Oh, the horror.

But he's the "Ripper" ..he screams constantly. He's a "Scream Machine" These are facts!

His voice will always be synonymous with the band and there's nothing the band can really do about it.

BUT he can't hit the high notes any more, looks like a gay vampire, and themed tours like that burlesque tour were a fucking joke.

Eh. In any case, they're still fucked without Degarmo's creative input.

If you look at the actual writing credits, Whip wrote or cowrote quite a few of their better songs in the OMC and Empire eras. DeGarmo was important but it's not as if Wilton didn't write a LOT of their "A" material too. I think their problem was more of a very conscious attempt to alter what they were to try and fit in with the times. If they can do something approximating their style up to Empire, that would be great. They're not going to be huge again, but if they could be true to what they once were the old fanbase might rally to support them and they could at least sell better in the casino/HOB/Hard Rock Live market that is their current draw.

If nothing else, Todd can do justice to the classic material and Tate can't do that anymore. Maybe if he quit smoking for a few years and dropped all the pretensions, they can have a reunion in 2018 for 30 years of OMC.
                            Ron is the MAN!!!!

Umm...this is nothing new. Bands wouldn't play very often if they only played on Friday and Saturday.
