Also, how is complaining about workday concerts "In GT's defense"? Did I miss something about Tate only wanting to work weekends? I do know in a recent interview he said he wanted to only play casinos, that he didn't want to play in "diseased" rock clubs anymore. But casinos book shows on worknights too; Megadeth played here at Hard Rock Live on a Thursday recently. As for bigger shows, Van Halen is at New Orleans Arena tomorrow night, a Tuesday.

I'm thinking he kind of looks a little like Rob Halford now. Could be his new boyfriend!

That was a more level headed response than I was expecting. If the other guys really did that stuff then they're all fucked up. Let's take our band and run the business into the ground.... sounds like the path those guys are on.

Its about control. They didn't want him in the band anymore so they outed every avenue that would be an issue. Its taking out the QB and changin up the team & managers, thereby leveling the playing field for the next season.

I respect Tate and by what he's saying here, this really was a needless way to handle something like this.. but, he likely holds to much and has much vested, and like he says, these are his ideas and music. This is a much stickier matter than what happened with Dream Theater and Portnoy, but no less cold or ugly - its in the lawyers hands at this moment. Sounds like each side feels entitled to retain the name but it doesn't sound like Tate is going to be bought out. Be interesting to see what plays out in the future on this. He has to be really going ouch, that hurts wtf? To be pro enough to continue to do shows with them, just is what I imagine it would be like; duress, emotional turmoil.

I do recall something like this happened with Lance King, similar ugliness but differing circumstances when the split with Pyramaze went down.

I'm surprised to see people in 'Camp Tate' on this one. A lot of the statements in that article are questionable at best (no one objected to Dedicated to Chaos or the cabaret huh, despite the interview Whip gave not too long after it happened saying just that?), and it seems mostly like legal posturing and an attempt to get pity. As for firing members of Tate's family...well, Susan is the reason (or at least a large part) of why DeGarmo left per most sources. Add to that the fact that the band was locked out of all their websites and social media pages (which became more like pages for Geoff's wife tastings and solo spots)...Geoff's no angel here.

I'm not saying anyone is clean in this, but at the moment I'm leaning heavily towards being with the guys in the band. This article only helped to cement that.

I can't even imagine what it would be like to be 10,000 miles away from home alone and surrounded by people who were your bros for decades and now hate you, talk shit behind your back, and want you gone.

I still think Geoff needed to hang it up due to his voice being shot, but not like that, man.

At the least they should have told him to his face instead of having lawyers pass the buck.

Regardless of what Tate says now, I think DeGarmo was the one in control of the direction of the band since the beginning. I've talked to him (Empire New Year's Eve party) and heard him talk in interviews - not only is he an underrated guitarist and writer, but he is very intelligent and thoughtful. Once he left and Tate took over, I think QR lost their way in Tate's ego.

Agreed 100%. When Susan became manager and Geoff became uncontested in running the band, the nails started going in the coffin lid.

There's also another question: how is it possible to get 3 guys to hate you after 30 years?

Looks to me like whoever/however the interviews/statements are put, it's probably been Tate -vs- The Rest for longer then is being said

I just find it amusing that Queensryche was Geoff's idea...when it existed before he even came along (Rolling Stone even changed their article, it originally called Geoff a founding member but was changed shortly after it was posted). ;p

Also, it's telling that Chris DeGarmo left and came back for a time (for Tribe) then couldn't stand the BS and left again before even finishing the album. Then Tate's daughter says that the rest of the band is to blame for Dedicated to Chaos...and Geoff comes out two weeks later and says he wrote everything.

Again, I'm not saying anyone is clean in this...but my money is on Mr. Tate. There's just too many things he said in that interview alone that can easily be proven wrong (some with previous statements of his own).

Chris DeGarmo and Geoff Tate were Queensryche to me. When Chris left they lost a lot. I get that they wanted to continue and the new guy was decent enough. But Queensryche without Geoff Tate is silly. Just like Judas Priest without Halford, Journey without Steve Perry, Van Halen without Roth, Sabbath without Ozzy, etc. The guys they got to replace them were all very good of course but when a band that's been playing that long loses their voice it's just not the same. Sabbath/Van Halen sounded completely different with Dio/Sammy - they were great in there own way but they were completely different bands with different singers. Journey sounds like a tribute band now.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
