The grunge scene was a marketing fad. Some of the bands lumped in to the scene didn't deserve to be. Hair metal had run its course and deserved to die however.

That is so true. Hair metal was getting too faggoty...

It's all the guys who wanted to be prettier than girls that pretty much killed the scene once they couldn't get any more permed and makeup'd. All of the good metal in the scene suffered because of it.

This may be true but damn there were also a lot of really good guitar players that came from that scene. The 80's was all about the party, flash and glam. That's when concerts were a true show. The 90's seemed like it was about how depressed can we get before we just shoot ourselves in the head. The 80's was a cool time to be a young teen. Showing my age here but having been there, I definitely wouldn't trade my time coming of age in the 80's.

Born in '70 and loved metal AND "grunge". HUGE Ratt and Iron Maiden fan. Alice in Chains is my all time favorite. Liked Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mad Season, but could not get into Nirvana. Still can't - Kurt Cobain gets all the credit for that time period, but he was the worst guitar player, period.
