The purpose of the forced posting is because Trace has always felt that people come in, soak up info and not contribute. So to weed out people who take from the site and not give back forces people to get involved.

I've met Trace, he's a super nice guy. We haven't always agreed how things should go but the reality is that he knows his shit and had a passion for charvel for many years.

And I agree the site is a great resource but WHAT exactly is being lost by lurkers. I just dont get it lurkers that hang around a while often become active if they too have a passion. I just feel like that methodology chases off potential wealths of information and guys that care about the gear.

This site for me is a prime example. Many think I am just a flipper and out to make a buck but the truth of the matter is I love saving gear and working on gear. Its also an outlet for me to do something with axes even though I am injured. It keeps me in the love of the stuff and that to me is great. Plus im able to find and unearth things that many times would either go unfound or unnoticed. Its a fact that I sell stuff but I dont do it to screw people and do try to take care of forum bros. I would HAVE LOVED to be able to be a part of that site but because I fell on hard times and chose to try and get the most for something I bought I became the enemy. It is what it is and I definitely dont agree with his ideas but its his site and so be it. The fact that he now chooses to bash the shit out of me over there shows the mature manner that he takes.

Unlike him I am not still saying "trace what an asshole" like he does about me. To me he seems like a guy that wants to keep it so close knit that it forces out many others from the mix. But since there seems to be interest in some of the stuff I will do a little research and try to contribute some stuff that might be sticky worthy to our Charvel section. No reason that information should be obscure and hidden by what I feel is a person being a selfish and hoggin the playground to himself. I have spent countless hours learning about these and other axes over the past few years and may be able to contribute a bit better to the site in that manner.

All I can tell you is that a handful of us that collectoed for years and years had a common bond. Some saw it as a way to weed out charvel scores 'Controlled by the few to steal from the many" Some of us simply has a passion for the product and the company. I for one always had a good repore with them and when the crash and burn with AMIC happened then FMIC bought it, I worked hard to not only ressurect the charvel brand but to get a good working relationship here with the factory. I figured what better way for fans to have input and insight into the guitars that they played. It was an avenue for people to talk to the people, building their guitars.

Some had issues with the big bad corporation buying their brand, some wanted to use the forum as a tool to get back at the company in a public swipe, some wanted the spot light, some simply didn't know the hard work that went on behind the scenes and simply assumed we were sellouts. It fractured the community and some of those people went off and started their own boards.

I can tell you that it took the steam out of me and hurt all the hard work that the admins here did. We got to a point of fuck it, what's the point. I've personally been involved in over $150k in guitar sales for JCMI in the forum with custom runs and such. Not once did I ever ask to company for a favor. At times I watched the back of the company here because of private information that had been released. It wasn't because I was looking out for the company but I was looking out for the longevitey of the JCF. Some didn't like that and started other forums.

There's a lot of politics that played out over the years and a lot of that was behind the scenes. I dont profess to know why Trace or anyone chooses to run their forum the way they do. I do know that some of the things that were complained about come up in the way those forums are run. I look at it this way, it's their forum, they pay to run it, they can run it the way they want. I would have loved to have been a part of that community as well but there were too many wounds and I felt as though I didn't belong. I myself would have a hard time dealing with the post rule, but it is what it is.

Trace has his own way of doing things, and while he busted on me a long time ago for not posting enough, I've been pretty good about having something to say every time I log on, just as I do here. Certainly a different way of doing things, but it seems to work, and the regular members seem to be ok with it - no problems here!

I got banned when I didn't post the first time. I asked for a second chance and was given one. I don't post much over there because of the posting rule and there hasn't been much going on in the world of new usa charvels.
chris you and I have bumped heads over here but I think Trace went way to far with you on his site. Some of his biggest posters are the biggest flippers of charvels (and the ones that jack up the prices) there is they just do in on ebay. Some have the same user names on ebay as the do on his site some don't.
when it comes to Tracey's site his rules, if you don't like it don't go there. Trace has always been cool with me and stays out of the BS 99% of the time.

Thanks Rich though we havent always agreed or gotten along I have tried to make amends for what you were upset about and I hope your still happy with the flames charvel. Trace obviously just hates me and thats all fine and good. He thinks im upset because I can't flip over there...quite the contrary I dont give a shit hell 9/10s of my stuff doesnt ever come up here either. After I found out how much it pissed some people off I just backed off it. No need to have agitation on a site of guys with common interests like this.

He is very hypocritical. I know he paid peanuts for that black Tele that I believe corpsegrinder ended up with..but he doesnt believe in "making a buck"....It is what it is lol.

I am a member at both forums. I havent posted here in a long time because some of the immature people (by no means do I mean all). When you ask a question and you get your shit jumped by some asshole; that tends to drive people away. They dont deserve the publicity so I wont name them. I have no other complaints about this forum. I have no complaints about USAC. Why people here would even waste their time downing someone else is beyond me. No one forced any of you that got banned to go there. Its Tracy's site and if he wants to make his rules, he can. You dont abide by them, then you get banned. Someone earlier said its hilarious. I think its hilarious that people take the time to whine about being banned. Grown ups can get over things like that.

I think we forget what these forums are. They are enthusiast sites. This is not a logic site where we discuss accounting rules and IRS changes.

No, we are a a group of addicts more similar at times to an AA meeting. We are archaeologists searching for the missing Charvel. We are guitar porn addicts. We are enthusiasts. I crack up when we make fun of another forum. It's like an AA group saying the other group in the next town are worse drunks than we are.


But parked outside our little methadone clinics do lurk the dealers looking to take advantage of our addictions. Tracy, Jim and others have done a decent job of exposing the fraud. I won't dwell on that but we do know that the old Charvels are often faked and lied about and passed along and members in good standing try to keep the information pure.

On each forum I have been on I have seen the admins come under attack. Brett Dennis often took heat. ~K~ in the CC days and even here taking fire. Key contributors like Jim Shine being used for someone else's gain. Other members like Sully keeping the peace. The admins of different forums going at each other. Why? Because it is a passion. It is not logic.

As to the posting rule I have been guilty of it. I was banned years ago but did come back. The forum best serves my narrow San Dimas era Charvel focus. I post more now on those +1 threads I did not post on in the past. If I visited your house and you asked me to take my shoes off I would. It's your house. Certainly I would not smoke if that was the rule in your home. (I don't smoke, but just as an example). You show up at the restaurant without proper attire? Are they not allowed to have rules? They are tools for having rules?


I don't agree with everything at Tracy's board and we have had open exchanges. I was not banned for it.

The admins of these boards put up with more nonsense than we know. They are not perfect and we should not expect perfection. If you are unhappy about the banning email the guy. If he is a tool for not letting you smoke in his restaurant then we can't change how you feel.


These boards, past and present, are run by passionate people and I thank them for doing so.

I am not unhappy about the banning I don't really play Charvels anymore so the point is kind of moot,
it's his way of doing things that makes me chuckle. I know Tracey personally, it's not like I am a random member that he's never met.
What I found "tool -like" is his "execution" a giant "You have been permanently banned" out of no where is kind of funny (c'mon you don't see the humor in that)
an Email stating "hey Nick want to post a little more , there is a rule in place" would have derailed this thread even being posted in the first place.

I've called him from a Guitar store to give him a heads up on a San Dimas score (#5171) comes to mind , I don't do that for people I don't like.
I've gone to his house and oiled the necks on a couple of his guitars that needed "clean up" (for free of course) and happy to do so.
I've met Jim Shine in person (a salt of the earth kind of guy,very nice in person and who really knows his shit) and a couple of other people over there that I truly like shooting the shit with online
In person Trace is a cool dude, online............................. I don't know so much anymore.
I'm not going to contribute to this thread anymore as I did not intend it to become a 10 page bitch session.
