The Blues came out rolling big last night!!. Terasenko is the real deal, 2-goals on his first 2-shots in the NHL!
Impressive yet only half as many as the record. A San Jose rookie scored 4 goals on his first four shots in the NHL. In fact, his fifth shot rang off the bar or it would have been even more incredible. Jan Caloun. '96 I think, or thereabouts. Sharks sent him to the then expansion CBJ where he played part of a season then never seen again.
obviously you haven't watched the rangers. plenty of time to turn things around. last night was the first night
not dominated by "overs". lots of goals being scored, teams are not tuned up yet.
you could of made some nice money betting overs the first two nights.
Yup, if things are similar to the last short season with no pre-season/exhibition it's going to take some teams 5-10 games to get it together. Unfortunately those teams either go on winning tears to make the playoffs or spend the rest of the season trying to squeak in. If you are below .500 after 10 games it will be hard to make it I think.
I'd save off those current standings as a file were I you. Sharks will find a way to fuck it up. They always do, at least ever since you let go of Lombardi....the man who holds the only NHL record that specifically measures GM performance....most consecutive seasons when each season showed an improvement in team points. The one that got away)
Yeah, I do definitely miss past-era Sharks, but this lineup looks solid. McLellan has been doing a fine job. While it's sad we haven't won the Cup, it's not an easy thing to do. Even if you have the perfect team, you're not guaranteed the Cup.
Brad Stuart is doing exactly what I had hoped. Stepping up and playing power forward when he can sneak it in. Very promising. I was a fan of Stuart before he got traded, I'm still a fan.
Scott Gomez signed a 1 year contract for $700k. That's pure win, I think. Even though he's dwindling from when he was in NJ, I'm sure with a little luck and good wingers, he could easily break his average.
I'm still not completely happy with Patty. Even though he's got 4 and looks to have one of his best starts, I don't think he would do very well without Nolan or Thornton and he does seem to get complacent really quickly.
On a side note, Winnik also had a great start. I wish we would have signed him. I saw him do so many amazing things while he was with the Sharks... much better performance than Galiardi... Oh well.

Thornton's got eyes in back of his head. Marleau's goals prove that. Check the replays and you'll notice how Thornton not only draws his own check but also those of his wingers immediately before he dishes to a now uncovered Marleau to bury it. I'd love to play on Thornton's line - he does the work for all three... just ask Cheechoo what Joe does for his wingers. Anybody could tap in 50 if being fed by one of the most intelligent set-up men the game has ever seen. Best hope Joe stays healthy to make a serious run.... before he retires at which time you'll wish you still had Dean Lombardi to build a new team from the ground up.
Lombardi never won a cup. And the Sharks ended up falling apart under his management. I'm glad Daryl Sutter finally got his cup. At least SJ are still contenders, and with the addition of Scott Gomez, a very annoying player that I'm glad we now have, things are looking good. Not many teams have a valid top center playing a 3rd or 4th line role like he'll be playing. It should be interesting to see though.
