  • that was a desperate islander team playing hard, and the pens were just toying with them. seriously, the pens score whenevr they have to.
if they put 60 full minutes together, they can win the cup. that's what i see at least. hate those fucks.

    • I was impressed with the Isles...great young team that will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years. They really didn't do anything to beat themselves...they played great hockey. Game 6 could have easily gone the other way with a few more favorable bounces. Pens played a fairly lackluster game but simply have too much horsepower for a young Isles team that didn't capitalize on all of their opportunities. Pens D left Vokoun out to dry a few times but he stood strong enough times to get the win. Aside from some spotty play in goal, the Isles biggest weakness is special teams...if they get those corrected, watch out.

Although Vokoun earned the start IMO, my gut tells me that Bylsma goes back to MAF for game 1 against Ottawa.

      • if 1 and 2 seeds can make it out of round one they have decent odds. On paper Chicago and Pittsburgh should be playing for the cup once its all said and done but there are a few teams that push em. If those two teams play their game, don't have goal tending issues or shoot themselves in the foot somehow they should be playing for the cup a few weeks.

Game 7 on the road for the Wings today, flip a coin, its up for grabs, whoever wants more will get it. Detroit's young D cannot afford any mistakes tonight....

        • Looks like hawks-wings. They scare me, but I think it'll be chi in 5 or 6. Biggest problem Babcock has is on D. Ericsson/kronwall can't play every shift. So they'll have to pick toews/Kane or sharp/hossa. Not to mention the bickell/shaw/stalberg line, and we got bolland back.

Still, I don't like playing them. When dats/zett/franzen are rolling it's scary.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

          • Wings have no pressure at all.... they've been playing playoff hockey for the last 12 games. They are the 7 seed and not supposed to beat Anaheim. Chicago is the Presidents Trophy, they're supposed to win. I hope they got rusty while sitting around after beating Minnesota fairly easily.

Towes/Kane/Sharp/Hossa could be a wash with Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Franzen/Filppula. Health, secondary scoring/depth and goaltending will decide this one. Chicago is just too deep but I know first hand winning a Presidents trophy, having the deepest team in the league doesn't always equate to a long playoff run..saw the Wings get stung more than once with a stacked roster, presidents trophy and favorite to win the cup.

Should be a good series either way...we wont get to play Chicago again in the playoffs beginning next season unless it the Cup final as Detroit moves to the East (yay, because of easy travel )

Yeah, there's been a lot of good hockey to watch this season.

I honestly thought they'd get swept in 4 games. They played good and I have some newfound respect for them

                        • Toronto's lack of play off experience showed. The Bruins have been in these types of game before mainly because they can't seem to finish a team and they seem to thrive on making their fans squirm.

Total choke by young Toronto, Boston made a historic comeback in that game. I liked both teams.

Round two has more Original 6 match ups, NY vs Bos in the east

Det vs Chi in the west.
