I always find shit like this funny:

Student claims that the teacher was moonlighting as a porn star were initially dismissed after school officials said they couldn't find any images of her on the Internet - but they were using the school's computers, which don't allow access to porn.

is her past the issue, or is it the world we live in who has everyones information on display
on the internet? if she is truly qualified for the job, why shouldn't she be allowed to teach?
lots of people turn their lives around, people who have done bad things and they got the chance to change.
this is a tightly wound planet, i think this is bullshit, my opinion, nobody elses.

This world is fucked up, indeed. She should be allowed to teach. And the kids who watched porn on their phones in school should be suspended!

I appreciate this sentiment in most circumstances, with the provision that even if you're sorry you're responsible for your past. It's true that she was engaged in perfectly legal activity. It's also true that it's legal to have been a spokesperson for the KKK but you won't see anyone agitating for ex members to teach in inner city schools.

The point is that the purpose of schools is to educate, not provide jobs. The fact is that her prior career, and the existence of her videos to anyone with an Internet connection, is a tremendous, tremendous distraction that far outstrips her "right" to move beyond her past. Nobody is stopping her from being a lawyer or a doctor or whatever else she wants to be. She has chosen the one profession where her past, and it's public nature, will impede the district's ability to focus on what they're supposed to be there for- educating youngsters.

Whether or not there are other problems with education in this country is a different issue. But to me this is a simple and straightforward case. She doesn't have a right to be a teacher, and this is one of many issues that can (and apparently will) keep her out of the classroom.

She should have a right to be a teacher. The kids were wrong for looking at porn in school on their phones. The kids and their parents should be the ones disciplined, as well as other school officials who were trying to look at said porn that was blocked on their computers.

i appreciate the medicine you're dropping on me here vass, and i think that now that the word is out on her, i feel teaching kids would be an impossibility now.
But being that the purpose of schools is to educate, not provide jobs, isn't her past alone a bonus to let kids know what not to get into when they come of age later? just a thought here.
I've learned more from people who have been through the ringer of life than from people who always made the right moves and decisions. then again, that's probably because the latter
can't take a headache like me around for too long haa haa!

What I'm about to type has a bit of a recursive quality to it, but if she's allowed to keep the job, it shows the kids that bad decisions DON'T follow you, and you can just shake the etch a sketch and move on.

Now there is redemption out there to be sure for those who go looking as you point out, and the road makes them interesting people too! Lots of people come from bad circumstances and tough background and make good. That however is their road, and the road of whoever wants to trust them as they travel it. School boards should not be making the decision to assist in someone's personal story of redemption on behalf of parents and kids who just want to get an education.

She did this back when she was 25-26, not some little kid. She apparently was working as a teacher, or between teaching jobs as her lawyer suggests (not at the current school) and made reference to her day job in one of her videos. She said it happened after breaking up with a boyfriend. So between teaching jobs, she does some porn. These are not the actions of someone ideally suited to educating and supervising a bunch of 12 and 13 year olds either.

Nobody has a "right" to any particular job, but if she wanted to be a cop, an FBI agent, an astronaut for NASA, if someone asked me for my vote I'd say as long as she is qualified, she has my support. But the education and supervision of minors, and the ability to command a classroom while executing same, is incompatible with a public sex worker career.

That said, she probably has a chance to go back to her old career if she wants with some success. You can't buy this sort of publicity.

I agree with toe on this one. The woman should be allowed to teach, so she used to be a pornstar, that's her business. It's not like she's a convicted criminal. The fact is she hasn't done anything wrong and the kids shouldn't even know she did porn.

Most of those kids' parents did the same kind of shit when they were conceived anyway, dear old mom getting jackhammered after giving a BJ.

Unless she's banging students, it wasn't a problem, but now that the story is out, its a bit of a distraction obviously.
