My 1911 got scuffed up pretty bad

My bro inlaw took it shooting and it got knocked off a table and landed hard onto limestone gravel. It put some nicks and dents in it. A basic rebluing wouldnt fix it. So, I stripped the bluing off and continued with a makeover. Here is the first coat of paint in Desert Mustard. It is not as yellow as it appears in the pic. More tan with a slight hint of yellow.-Lou

You using Durocoat, CeraKote?

Actually, I am just using a fast dry enamel with really thin coats. If it doesn't hold up, I will order Duracoat. I used it with great results, I was just curious how well enamel will work.-Lou

I don't think the enamel will take much abuse to show it. I'd +1 the CeraKote or Duracoat.

It probably won't. Enamel chips pretty easy.....but, I had it laying around from another project and figured if it didn't hold up, toss in some stripped and start over with Duracoat.-Lou

You can paint it any color you want, as long as its black.

You might try header paint, I've used it on guns before and its stood up well

If this doesnt work, I will go back to the tried and true Duracoat. That stuff rocks. To be honest, I am glad it happened so it gave me an excuse to give it some color. -Lou

I was going to ask if you used exhaust manifold paint (Header Paint), otherwise when the barrel gets hot it I would have thought it will flake.

But that is only if you severely use it eh!

But seriously guns should be gun metal, green or camo. And what's with these pink AR15's?

I heard Obama was banning coloured guns anyhow? Especially, pink, blue or yellow ones?
